  • Patent number: 10114086
Abstract: A hybrid imaging system includes a magnetic resonance scanner and a second modality imaging system disposed in the same radio frequency isolation space. The second modality imaging system includes radiation detectors configured to detect at least one of high energy particles and high energy photons. In some embodiments a retractable radio frequency screen is selectively extendible into a gap between the magnetic resonance scanner and the second modality imaging system. In some embodiments shim coils are disposed with the magnetic resonance scanner and are configured to compensate for distortion of the static magnetic field of the magnetic resonance scanner produced by proximity of the second modality imaging system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 21, 2008
Date of Patent: October 30, 2018
    Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.
Inventors: Daniel Gagnon, Michael A. Morich, Douglas M. Blakeley, Robert L. Zahn, Kevin M. Nieman

  • Patent number: 5969358
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a pair radiation sensitive detector heads disposed on opposite sides of the patient. The detectors and patient are moved relative to each other in an axial direction while the relative angular orientation of the detectors and the patient is held constant. Positron annihilation events occurring within the anatomy of a patient are detected and used to reconstruct an image. According to one reconstruction technique, a focal plane method is used. The intersections of the lines of coincidence and a plurality of image planes is determined, and a series of images indicative of the intersections is generated.

  • Patent number: 5138642
Abstract: A detector arrangement is disclosed for an industrial CT x-ray system which uses a three dimensional cone beam to irradiate the specimen and a large two dimensional scintillation screen to develop a light image corresponding to the energy of the attenuated radiation beams. The light image is focused by a special lens arrangement with zoom capability onto the photocathode of an intensifier. The intensified light image developed is transmitted by fiberoptics to a plurality of CCD chips, each chip developing electrical signals corresponding to a segment of the image developed in the intensifier. The chips are clocked in a predetermined manner based on a prior information developed in an initial scan to produce a high resolution image of large industrial objects in a short time.
