  • Publication number: 20180195953
Abstract: Memory efficient methods determine corrected color values from image data acquired by a nucleic acid sequencer during a base calling cycle. Such methods may: (a) obtain an image of a substrate (e.g., a portion of a flow cell) including a plurality of sites where nucleic acid bases are read; (b) measure color values of the plurality of sites from the image of the substrate; (c) store the color values in a processor buffer of the sequencer's one or more processors; (d) retrieve partially phase-corrected color values of the plurality of sites, where the partially phase-corrected color values were stored in the sequencer's memory during an immediately preceding base calling cycle; (e) determine a prephasing correction; and (f) determine the corrected color values. In various implementations, these operations are all performed during a single base calling cycle. In certain embodiments, the methods additionally include using the corrected color values to make base calls for the plurality of sites.

  • Publication number: 20180133453
Abstract: Fluid transfer device and method that allows for sterile wet connections, allows the connection to be reversed, and allows the connection to be reconnected, while leaving the connectors sterile and reusable under pressure. In certain embodiments, the device includes a first member and a second member, the latter adapted to receive the former in locking engagement upon actuation of the device to create fluid communication between the two in a sterile manner. Each of the members include a door that when opened, allows the first member to be linearly displaced into the second member to allow fluid to be transferred. When fluid transfer is complete, the first member can be retracted from the second member, and the doors closed.

  • Publication number: 20140295095
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the continuous powder coating of a non-conductive profile produced in a continuous forming process, such as pultrusion or extrusion, such that the profile is powder coated while on the profile forming machine and before the subject segment of the continuous profile is severed from the continuous profile on the forming machine (i.e. in-line).

  • Publication number: 20110311721
Abstract: A method of applying a clear thermo set powder coating(s) to non-conductive heat sensitive plastic substrates having been previously liquid painted with an adhesion promoter and/or primer/basecoat or basecoat or any combination therein. The method allows for the application of a decorative or functional clear powder coated surface to a previously liquid painted heat sensitive non-conductive substrate. The application can be in a variety of gloss levels, metallic flake or texture.

  • Publication number: 20100266782
Abstract: A method of powder coating application in which two thermo set powder resins can be applied to conductive substrates, non-conductive substrates or combinations of both within a single powder-coating booth and then subsequently co-cured. The substrates are cleaned, pre-treated if metal, dried, pre-heated and the first and second application of thermo set powder is done and then the powders are co-cured with heat.

  • Publication number: 20070224343
Abstract: A method of powder coating thermo powder resins to non-conductive plastic substrates, in particular, to polyamide materials and other non-conductive plastic substrates. After cleaning the substrate, a water-based adhesive/primer is applied to the substrate and then cured to promote adhesion, protect the substrate from unwanted chemical reactions and increase the electrical surface conductivity of the substrate to provide to better coating and transfer efficiency of the thermosetting powder to the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20060213306
Abstract: An apparatus for multi-axis rotation and translation comprises a spherical body, a plurality of roller assemblies each engaging the outer surface of the spherical body, a plurality of actuators for driving said roller assemblies, a frame for supporting the plurality of roller assemblies and the plurality of actuators and translation means for translating the frame along each of three orthogonal axes. The actuators are selectively operated to drive the roller assemblies thereby imparting unlimited angular displacement to the spherical body and rotating the spherical body about any axis passing through its geometric center. The translation means may be operated to translate said spherical body along at least one of said three orthogonal axes. The apparatus is particularly applicable to use as a manipulator with six degrees of freedom (unlimited rotational displacement and translational displacement limited only by the boundaries of the workspace).

  • Patent number: 6968614
Abstract: A method for positioning an electronic module having a plurality of interconnecting elements into a template. A first portion of the interconnecting elements are aligned with holes in the template and then the first portion of the interconnecting elements are partially inserted into the holes of the template. A second portion of the interconnecting elements are not inserted into the template at this time. Then, the second portion of the interconnecting elements are aligned with holes in the template and then inserted into the holes in the template. Lastly, the electronic module and template are urged together until the first and second portions of the interconnecting elements are fully inserted into the holes in the template. The interconnecting elements may then be tested.

  • Publication number: 20020144399
Abstract: This invention generally relates to the handling of integrated circuit or electronic modules which comprise interconnecting elements. The invention relates to a holder or template and method to hold such modules during processing and to test the elements and the interconnection of a grid array of elements attached to the electronic module. There is a requirement to be able to automatically align, hold and bring the columns of a column grid array module into contact with probe devices for testing of the columns and the module. To achieve this, a self-aligning module holder or template has been developed to ensure that the columns are properly aligned. The invention includes associated methods to automatically position and align the columns of the module in the holes of the template.
