  • Publication number: 20080132308
Abstract: A gaming system includes a system controller, a means for establishing a credit on the system, a plurality of gaming machines, and a communications system connecting each of the plurality of gaming machines to the system controller. The gaming machines each have credit register, a player input device, a tracking input device and a game controller. Each game controller is arranged to play a game when a player has established a credit in the credit register of the respective gaming machine and the credit establishment means is arranged to establish a player credit and to associate that credit with a player tracking means (such as a magnetic stripe card or a fingerprint) of a player establishing the credit.

  • Patent number: 7192345
Abstract: A gaming machine having a display and a game controller arranged to control images displayed on the display. The game controller is arranged to play a game wherein at least one random event is caused to be displayed on the display and, if a predetermined winning event occurs, the machine awards a prize. During the playing of a first game, symbols related to the at first game are displayed on the display. When a trigger condition occurs, a feature game is commenced in which an arrangement of at least some of the symbols of the first game are incorporated as part of a larger image which comprises an image of the feature game, the at least some symbols of the first game contributing to an outcome of the feature game.

  • Publication number: 20040166942
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided, in which a gaming server 11 is responsible for accounting, game play, and payouts, while the game console 12 is primarily responsible for presenting the user interface. In the general case, communication delays are eliminated by generating game outcomes locally to the console which will be used to determine game outcome to the console prior to the player making their selection. The random numbers used to generate game outcomes are generated in a highly secure device and cannot be used to determine the correct choice of player selection or influence the game outcome. When the player makes a selection the random numbers are already available to the console and the game outcome can be determined and displayed immediately, independent of communication delays.

  • Patent number: 6722986
Abstract: A gaming machine is described in which all interested parties to a game program to run on the gaming machine, will digitally sign each piece of approved program prior to installation. These signatures are stored with the program on a mass storage device inside the gaming machine. When the machine needs to load a piece of program, or upon an external command after a significant event such as a jackpot payout, it will execute the SHA-1 program code in the EPROM on the program being loaded, and then perform a DSA verification operation using the SHA-1 output as one of the parameters. The DSA verification operation will be repeated for every digital signature stored with the program, and all must be valid, so that it is impossible to execute program code that has not been approved by the manufacturer, the jurisdictional authority and optionally the casino and/or other parties.

  • Publication number: 20040038740
Abstract: A gaming console architecture includes a game platform interface and a game program, the game program including a plurality of functional modules, such as “combinations” and “graphics/audio” which interact via the platform interface. The game program may include a user interface module and a combinations module and communication of combinations to be displayed, are conveyed from the combinations module to the user interface module via the platform interface. The architecture allows the creation of games which run on a variety of platforms of different architectures which may be stored on a generic “game server” which stores games for execution and distribution to various platforms including electronic gaming machines, internet consoles and televisions.

  • Patent number: 6644664
Abstract: A gaming machine includes a controller for controlling operation of a game played on the gaming machine. A display is provided on which a game played under the control of the controller is displayed, the game displayed on the display comprising a plurality of polyhedral elements, each of which has a plurality of faces with a predetermined indicium being carried on at least one face of each element. The elements are rotatable, when the game is played, about at least one axis to bring certain faces into view, the rest positions of the faces and the indicia carried on visible faces of the polyhedral elements being amongst the determining conditions as to whether or not a winning result has been achieved in the game.

  • Patent number: 5923249
Abstract: An optional security system for monitoring door opening is designed to be plugged into the main board of a slot machine without any change of hardware or addition of extra switches. This security system allows time stamping of any access to the machine interior and will operate while the machine is powered down. Standard and optional security is designed so that when the optional security module is added it can share the same sensors as the standard system. The normal security system does not prevent the security module functioning when the power is off. Ideally, a security module can be plugged into a machine and take over or add the new security features. The isolation between the main board and the security system is achieved by the use of schottky diodes. When operating from battery power, the security subsystem remains in a low power drain "sleep" state for the majority of the time, "waking up" periodically to check the door switches and then going to sleep again.
