  • Patent number: 11347379
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for providing captions with audio content. For instance, an electronic device may receive first data representing audio content and second data representing captions that are available for the audio content. The electronic device may then select portions of the captions for display while outputting the audio content. In some instances, the electronic device selects the portions using timestamps represented by the second data. For instance, the electronic device may select a portion of the captions such that the portion of the captions begins at a first pause within the audio content and/or ends at a second pause within the audio content. In some instances, the electronic device may also display graphical elements that indicate the current location within the captions.

  • Publication number: 20200063180
Abstract: The invention is based in part on the observation that a CHO cell oxidizing enzyme, particularly QSOX1, can survive a seemingly rigorous antibody purification process to reduce subsequent conjugation efficiency of the antibody to a drug. Whether the oxidizing enzyme survives the purification procedure depends on which purification techniques are employed which can vary from one antibody to another. With knowledge that contamination with a CHO cell oxidizing enzyme is a potential problem for subsequent conjugation, a suitable purification scheme can be devised for any antibody that eliminates or at least reduces CHO oxidizing enzyme(s) to an acceptable level.

  • Patent number: 10444189
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for characterizing composite materials for manufacturing quality assurance (QA), periodic inspection during the useful life, or for forensic analysis/material testing. System are provided that relate eddy-current sensor responses to the fiber layup of a composite structure, the presence of impact damage on a composite structure with or without a metal liner, volumetric stress within the composite, fiber tow density, and other NDE inspection requirements. Also provided are systems that determine electromagnetic material properties and material dimensions of composite materials from capacitive sensor inspection measurements. These properties are related to the presence of buried defects in non-conductive composite materials, moisture ingress, aging of the material due to service or environmental/thermal exposure, or changes in manufacturing quality.

  • Publication number: 20190108728
Abstract: Systems and methods for gamified engineering education are disclosed. Embodiments are directed to an interactive learning exercise designed to allow participants to interact with a complex system, make observations, apply various performance engineering tactics and tools, and optimize the complex system based upon findings. At a high level, the system is a simulated casino floor with multiple pre-defined components, stations, roles, and tasks. The objective of the game is to settle as many player wagers as possible in a set amount of time by “tuning” various aspects of the casino operations. Aspects of the system—the components, stations, roles, tasks, etc.—have analogs in engineering problems. The knowledge gained, including the understanding of how different elements and aspects work with each other, may be applied by the participants to solve future engineering problems.
