    Abstract: A method for verifying the identity of a subscriber seeking member access to a social network on the Internet. The method employs a central computer that is in communication with the Internet. A member database is configured on the central computer. The member database for receipt of predetermined data sets that solicit information for use in member identification. Information received from a subscriber seeking access as a member is verified against a government operated identity database. If the subscriber identity is verified then the member is provided access to the social network. If the subscriber identity is not verified, then the subscriber is denied access to the social network and the central computer creates an advisory alert of the subscriber that failed. The advisory alert is transmitted through the Internet to members in the geographical area matching the geographic area of that the subscriber was unable to verify.

    Abstract: A method of broadcasting advisory alerts via communications networks where a central notification computer is provided which operable to broadcast advisory alerts to electronic device addresses stored in a subscriber database in a computer retrievable format. The subscriber database contains subscriber data sets which each include the electronic device address and at least one geographic location associated with the electronic device address. When an advisory alert is initiated, the affected geographic area is determined, and a geographic area defined by a perimeter is associated with the advisory alert. An algorithm retrieves addresses of the electronic devices associated with geographical locations within the perimeter; and the advisory alert is transmitted to the electronic device addresses associated with geographic locations within the perimeter.

Utilizing an on-line missing person or pet interview and active web site engine, a photo e-mail can be distributed instantaneously to reach a large segment of the area in which the person or pet is lost. The notification system retains information about a person or pet, including photographs, and their responsible adult or owner. Upon notification of the loss of a person or pet and the area lost, the system will initiate calculations, based upon the submitted area lost, particular abilities of the person or pet, and an estimate of how long the person or pet has been missing, to determine the most appropriate target area for the search.
