    Abstract: A safety gate is provided for limiting access to a work area. The safety gate includes a linkage pivotally connected to a support, and front and rear gates each being pivotally connected to one end of the linkage. As the linkage pivots about the support to move one gate upward, while moving the other gate downward, each gate remains substantially parallel to one another. The safety gate also includes a latch mechanism for locking the either of the front and rear gates into a particular position.
