Patent number: 11914537Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for managing the connection assignments of a plurality of accessory devices to one or more hub devices. In one example, a user device acting as a leader device receives an assignment request from an accessory device. The user device may obtain information corresponding to hub attributes from the one or more hub devices. The user device may also obtain accessory traits from the accessory device. The user device can compare the accessory traits with the hub attributes to determine a connection score for each hub device. The user device can then assign the accessory device to the hub device with the highest connection score.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2022Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jared S. Grubb, Robert M. Stewart, Gabriel Sanchez, Zaka ur Rehman Ashraf, David J. Chandler

Publication number: 20220337691Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for connecting third-party accessories to a cellular-capable device to participate in a telephone call. In one example, a user can voice a request to make a call to an accessory device. The accessory device can transmit the request to a controller device. Upon processing the request, the controller device can identify an appropriate cellular-capable device and instruct the cellular-capable device to place the requested call. The controller device can also instruct the cellular-capable device to establish an audio connection with the accessory device to relay the call audio. In another example, the controller device can listen for a word spoken at the accessory device indicating the end of the call. Upon receiving the end of call word, the controller device can instruct the cellular-capable device to terminate the call. While in the listening state, the controller device may continue processing user requests received at other accessory devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2022Publication date: October 20, 2022Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jared S. Grubb, Robert M. Stewart, Gabriel Sanchez, Zaka ur Rehman Ashraf, Anshul Jain

Publication number: 20220335938Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for coordinating interactions between a user device and a plurality of accessory devices. In one example, a user device receives information identifying one or more accessory devices in communication with the user device. The user device may implement accessory interaction instances for each of the identified accessories. A first accessory interaction instance can be associated with a first accessory among the identified accessories and receive a first audio input from the first accessory corresponding to a user request. The first accessory interaction instance can process a portion of the received audio input and receive a first response from a server computer. The user device may then transmit the first response to the first accessory device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2022Publication date: October 20, 2022Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jared S. Patent number: 5341408Abstract: A currency counter for counting currency notes withdrawn from a supply and advancing the notes one by one along a path past a density detector and a magnetic material detector to a stacker at a delivery location upon energization of a common drive motor in which an amplifier responsive to the density detector is automatically calibrated each time the counter starts and in which density and motor current signals are combined for doubles detection. The motor speed is adjusted for document length to provide a predetermined number of counts per minute. An adaptive counterfeit check is made. The motor is deenergized at the end of a batch count and momentarily reenergized to ensure that the last note of the batch is stacked.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1991Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Brandt, Inc.Inventors: Richard A. Melcher, William Sherman, III, Madhura Nadig, Robert M. Stewart, Paul L. Hessler, David R. Bryce

Patent number: 5058875Abstract: A sheet feeder in which a cam member shiftable transversely of the sheet feed path provides concomitant adjustment relative to the feed rollers of stripper shoes carried by resilient arms integral with stripper supports mounted for movement as a unit relative to the feed rollers and in which elements on the supports adjust the positions of the resilient arms for individual adjsutment of the shoes. A rib on a curved guide adjacent to the feed rollers prevents snapping of sheets against the feed rollers as they are picked up by an accelerating nip formed adjacent to the end of the guide by a pair of acceleration rollers, one of which is formed with a groove for accommodating the nip.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1990Date of Patent: October 22, 1991Assignee: Brandt, Inc.Inventor: Robert M. Patent number: 5022310Abstract: This application is for a lightweight variable displacement rotary fluid power machine, including a housing, within which a rotary cylinder barrel shaft is suitably mounted for rotation about a shaft axis. The shaft includes a plurality of open ended cylinder bores disposed in a circumferential array around its longitudinal axis. A tubular shaped fluid conduit telescoping sleeve type compression device, having sliding bearing type piston shoes at each end, is disposed to reciprocate within each cylinder bore, extending therefrom to engage adjustable camming means in sliding contact. A novel fluid valving mechanism is used, which interacts with arcuate slots on the camming surface, to communicate with each telescoping compression device and connect it, in a rotationally phased manner, with inlet and outlet fluid. Load bearing conditions are improved which enhance speed capabilities.Tubular shaped fluid conduit pistons are also used in a non-telescoping manner with the above novel valving apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1989Date of Patent: June 11, 1991Inventors: Robert M. Stewart, Carlene M. Stewart
