  • Publication number: 20150283114
Abstract: The invention directed to compounds that are specific inhibitors of PKC delta, and methods and compositions for the treatment and prevent of cancers and other disorders. Compositions comprising compounds of the invention are used to treat cancers such as, for example, carcinoid and neuroendocrine tumors, malignant melanomas, pancreatic, gastrointestinal and lung cancers. Neuroendocrine tumor cell lines of pulmonary and gastrointestinal origin are surprisingly sensitive to PKC delta inhibition by the compounds of the invention. The invention is further directed to methods, compositions and kits containing compounds of the formulas (Ia), (Ib), (IIa), (IIb), (IIIa), (IIIb), (IVa), (IVb), and (V) as disclosed and described in FIGS. 11 and 12.

  • Publication number: 20150044735
Abstract: The biosynthesis of fungal bicyclo[2.2.2]diazaoctane indole alkaloids with a wide spectrum of biological activities have attracted increasing interest. Their intriguing mode of assembly has long been proposed to feature a non-ribosomal peptide synthetase, a presumed intramolecular Diels-Alderase, a variant number of prenyltransferases, and a series of oxidases responsible for the diverse tailoring modifications of their cyclodipeptide-based structural core. Until recently, the details of these biosynthetic pathways have remained largely unknown due to lack of information on the fungal derived biosynthetic gene clusters. Herein, we report a comparative analysis of four natural product metabolic systems of a select group of bicyclo[2.2.2]diazaoctane indole alkaloids including (+)/(?)-notoamide, paraherquamide and malbrancheamide, in which we propose an enzyme for each step in the biosynthetic pathway based on deep annotation and on-going biochemical studies.

  • Patent number: 7222805
Abstract: A materials processing system adapted for the reduction of metallic materials including a material feed portion configured to convey materials to a mill portion comprising a motor driven rotor in close running fit with a cage mounted grate through which reduced material is discharged onto a conveyer. The cage is biased to a closed operating position by one or more hydraulic rams. A control system receives signals from a speed sensor operatively coupled to the rotor, and is configured to regulate the hydraulic rams, thereby controlling the opening and closing of the cage in response to rotation of the rotor. The control system is further configured to regulate the operation of the materials feed portion to suspend material feed during opening of the cage, permitting trapped or jammed material to be expelled from the mill portion.

  • Patent number: 7174587
Abstract: A patient positioning system for radiation therapy, including an elongated table, a lock bar positioned on the table and extending perpendicular to a length of the table, and first and second clamps secured to opposing ends of the lock bar. The clamps are adapted to grip flat surfaces of sides of the table so as to secure the lock bar in a fixed position along the length of the table. The second clamp is adjustably secured on the lock bar so that the second clamp can be unsecured from the lock bar, the lock bar can be re-positioned on the table as desired, and the second clamp then re-secured to the lock bar to fix the lock bar in place on the table. The system also includes a patient restraint member secured to the lock bar and adapted to extend over a patient lying on the table.

  • Patent number: 7077569
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a pallet extending horizontally from a patient table, including a horizontally extended pallet support for supporting a horizontally extendable pallet of a patient table, and a lifting assembly for vertically supporting the pallet support. The lifting assembly includes a lower base and at least one pair of non-intersecting front and rear lift arms holding the pallet support vertically above the lower base. Each lift arm includes a lower end pivotally connected to the lower base, an upper end pivotally connected to the pallet support, an elbow located between the lower end and the upper end, an elongated lower portion extending between the lower end and the elbow, and an elongated upper portion extending between the elbow to the upper end, with the lower portion and the upper portion connecting at an angle at the elbow.

  • Patent number: 6955464
Abstract: A patient table including an elongated table assembly extending between opposing ends, an elongated pallet mounted on the table assembly for linear motion between the opposing ends of the table assembly, and an elongated horizontal drive apparatus including a rotary motor, and an elongated rotary-to-linear motion converting mechanism extending between the opposing ends of the table assembly and substantially positioned at a midpoint between opposing sides of the table assembly. The rotary-to-linear motion converting mechanism connects the rotary motor to the pallet such that operation of the motor causes linear motion of the pallet on the table assembly. Among other feature and advantages, the centrally located rotary-to-linear motion converting mechanism has been found to provide smooth movement of the pallet on the table assembly.
