  • Patent number: 7014038
Abstract: An apparatus (100) for conveying cargo is provided, comprising a support base (105) and drive assembly (110) pivotably mounted to the support base (105) for vertical movement. The drive assembly (110) comprises a roller (120) and a first electronically controlled motor (125) for rotation the roller (120). A life assembly has a second electronically controlled motor (155) for moving the drive assembly (110) relative to the support base (105) from a retracted position to an extended position with the roller (120) in driving abutment against the cargo. An electronic controller (195) controls the first (125) and second (155) motors.

  • Patent number: 6420846
Abstract: A power drive unit having drive roller elements that transport cargo and a sensor that detects motion of the cargo, e.g., the speed at which the cargo is transported, where the sensor operates substantially independently of the motion of the-drive roller elements. Specifically, the power drive unit comprises a motor, an output shaft driven by a motor, at least one drive roller element fixedly mounted on the output shaft, the drive roller element thereby driven by the motor, a sensor frictionally coupled to the output shaft conditionally permitting relative rotation between the sensor and the output shaft, and a motion detector that detects motion of the sensor. Associated electronics are configured to remove power from the motor driven roller elements where cargo is jammed or parked upon them, thereby increasing the useful lifetimes of the motor and the drive roller elements of the power drive unit.

  • Patent number: 5588661
Abstract: A support bracket for mounting a first wheel onto a second wheel in side-by-side, parallel alignment. The bracket includes a mounting hole for engaging with and securing the bracket to a tightening bolt of a wheel axle assembly of the second wheel, a positioning slot for securing the bracket in place, and an open mounting slot through which a wheel axle of the first wheel is engaged and tightened. One embodiment includes a spacer that can be positioned on the opposite side of the first wheel axle so as to take up thread slack and utilize the clamping action of the first wheel tightening bolt for mounting the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4592545
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an exercising apparatus (20) which includes a torque arm (24) for rotation on a shaft (38) which is connected to a countertorque machine (26). The exercising person moves torque arm (24) through a flexible strap (28). Strap (28) includes a loop (36) for sliding along torque arm (24). The flexibility and sliding capability of strap (28) provide for the person to do the exact movement which he would otherwise do during an athletic event. Therefore, the person may exercise good form and coordination at the threshold speed of the resistance machine (26) for the movement of a particular sport.
