  • Patent number: 6801915
Abstract: A plurality of data records is provided, each data record having paired keys comprised of a first key and a second key. The first key identifies each data record in a certain manner and the second key identifies each data record in a different manner. The paired keys can be used to for example, by the first key identifying the original business identity which the data record belongs to, while the second key may identify the current business identity which the data record belongs to. In this way pre-merger data, for example, and post merger data can be retained. In one embodiment an apparatus is provided comprising a first table of data records and a second table of data records. The tables of data records may be stored in a computer memory.

  • Patent number: 6757412
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for helping determine a condition of selected tissue of a patient based on a set of thermal images of the selected tissue acquired over a time period. The image set has image regions with corresponding characteristics indicative of a temperature condition of an associated part of the selected tissue, which had been subjected to a thermal challenge during part of the image acquisition time period. Feature values are determined based on the characteristics of selected image regions. A classifier is applied to the features to provide an indication of the condition of the selected tissue, such as indicating a likelihood of malignancy.

  • Patent number: 6631882
Abstract: Method and apparatus for testing an emergency shutdown valve without disrupting the flow of the process during a testing procedure. The apparatus includes an emergency shutdown valve capable of moving about 25% beyond a fully opened position to a fully closed position. The emergency shutdown valve has a coefficient of flow which is equal to or greater than the normal coefficient of flow for the process when the valve is moved about 25% beyond its fully opened position which provides a means for moving the shutdown valve 50% of its total movement without affecting the coefficient of flow for the process. The apparatus also includes a programmable logic controller including a timer and counter, a valve actuator, valve positioner, and an alarm device for controlling the positioning and movement of the shutdown valve during a timed and scheduled shutdown valve testing process without affecting the flow of the process.

  • Patent number: 6400720
Abstract: A method is provided for transporting variable length packets such as IP packets and fixed length packets of length N, such as MPEG video packets, in standard digital transmission frames such as DS-3 frames. Each frame comprises a plurality P of sections having a fixed length M which is greater than N. A fixed length trailer is added to each of the variable length packets. Each variable length packet with the added trailer is segmented into an integer number of segmented packets of length N. Padding bits are added if necessary to provide the integer number of segmented packets. A header and trailer are added to each of the segmented packets and fixed length packets to expand them into an expanded packet length M. P of the expanded packets are combined into a frame for transmission.

  • Patent number: 6230935
Abstract: The dual chamber dispenser consists of two tubular chambers each of which is connected to a pump. The pumps are self-priming and are of a type that draw the substances from the tubular chambers. There is an activator which also serves as the top of the dispenser, side view apertures, a foot for better stability and a spout that is angled for enhanced dispensing. The side view apertures allow for viewing the fill level of the tubular chambers. The pumps are of a type having an upper valve and a lower valve, with the upper valves a part of the piston's that move in and out of the pumping chambers. The valves in said pumps are positive closing by means of a biasing spring. The substances to be dispensed are maintained separate, one from the other, until the substances are dispensed.

  • Patent number: 5954234
Abstract: A multichamber container must have certain characteristics in order to uniformly dispense the contents of each chamber from the container. The outer wall of the container and the inner divider web walls must have certain characteristics. The inner divider web walls must be highly flexible while the outer container wall must be less flexible. The Deflective Force for the outer wall must be greater than the Deflective Force for the web walls. In addition, to alleviate the problem of suckback of air into the container chambers, the outer wall should exhibit a specific Retention Index. This is a measure of the outer wall to remain deflected after the removal of the deflecting force. The inner divider web wall will have a lower Retention Index than the outer wall. By the proper selection of outer wall and web walls, there can be uniform dispensing from the dispenser. The Stiffness of the outer wall also should be less than the Stiffness for the inner web divider walls.

  • Patent number: 5940816
Abstract: A method for effecting computer implemented decision support. The method can improve on a candidate solution by allowing problem solving methods to cooperate towards the creation of a more desirable solution. The method can realize an enhanced understanding of tradeoffs inherent in competing objectives, and can incorporate factors or special considerations not easily specified, by enabling the decision maker to actively participate in the creation of a more desirable solution.

  • Patent number: 5912561
Abstract: Any voids in the divider walls of multichamber packages, and in particular, multichamber tubes, can be detected by applying a potential difference across the divider walls of the package. If there is a void, there will be an arcing of current from one electrode to another with a measurable difference in the potential difference between the electrodes. There also may be a visual and/or audible indication. This change in potential difference can be used to determine the integrity of the divider walls of the package. In a preferred mode, the electrodes also are the mandrel mold sections that are used for the compression molding of the shoulder and nozzle onto the body of a tube package. In this embodiment the integrity of the divider walls can be determined prior to the forming of the shoulder and nozzle onto the tube body or after the shoulder and nozzle is formed onto the tube body.
