  • Publication number: 20090261786
Abstract: A battery charger and method for a rechargeable battery pack which includes various elements in series with the cells to be charged, including but not limited to current control FETs, a fuse, current sense resistor, and internal series impedance of the series connected cells to be charged. The charging current Ichg flowing through these series elements reduces the voltage applied to the cells, thus lengthening charging time. A compensation voltage Vcomp, which when added to the nominal charging voltage for the series connected cells overcomes these voltage drops, facilitates more efficient charging while avoiding over-voltage damage to the cells. Three voltages representing substantially all of the voltage drops reducing the charging voltage on the cells, are summed, and the result is a compensation voltage which is utilized to change the nominal charge voltage for the battery to overcome these voltage drops.

  • Publication number: 20090003230
Abstract: A method for designing an, at least partly wireless, local area communication network for industrial application. A 3D plant model of the area in which the communication network is to operate is accessed. Devices that are to communicate in the communication, identify and quantify potential sources of interference or attenuation of the communication signals are introduced into this model. Data regarding communication characteristics of the devices are included. Communication possibilities of the devices are tested and evaluated in the communication network taking into account the possible interference and attenuation sources. If communication possibilities of a particular device is inadequate, adjustments regarding that device are suggested.

  • Publication number: 20070126291
Abstract: The invention provides a sensor assembly which can sense human tissue in a protected area of a machine. An emitter plate and a plurality of sensor plates are disposed co-planar to each other and adjacent to the protected area of the machine. An electric field is generated between the emitter plate and the sensor plates and directed towards the protected area. The sensor plates produce electrical signals corresponding to the electric field received at the sensor plate. The electrical signals are amplified, measures, and analyzed to determine if human tissue is within the protected area. If human tissue is detected, a machine interface circuit will shut down the machine to prevent injury.

  • Publication number: 20050226795
Abstract: A fill block for injection of fluid through a hinged lid is improved by making the fluid pathway therethrough of a constant cross-sectional area, and by providing one or more rounded surfaces to reduce or eliminate impact and contact with surrounding structures when the lid is open and closed. Using a more durable and flexible material for the fill block and insert sheet increases the lifetime of both components and reduces or eliminates the tendency of these components to stress crack. Polycarbonate is one example of such durable and flexible material.

  • Publication number: 20050134220
Abstract: A feedback-controlled battery charger circuit (500) provides, alternatively, constant current and constant voltage to a battery (328) being charged. Current and voltage at the charger output (326) are sensed in sensing elements (308) and compared to preset reference values from reference generators for current (330) and voltage (332), thus generating error signals for both current and voltage. These error signals are amplified in separate amplifiers (530, 534); then, depending on battery voltage, one of the amplified error signals is automatically selected by a signal selector (540). The selected error signal is applied to a single compensation amplifier (554) with reactive feedback loop (552, 556); the output of the compensation amplifier with feedback (504) then controls the output current or voltage of the output stage (306). This output stage is a voltage controlled current source.

  • Patent number: 6863060
Abstract: A paintball gun utilizing the Coanda effect in firing and/or loading paintballs. A Coanda chamber located in the bolt, feed tube, or barrel propels, loads, or spins a paintball. The Coanda chambers, which can be used in any combination include a port for receiving air, an inner cell, an outer cell and an annular ring defining a passageway between the cells. The chamber located in the bolt for propelling the ball includes walls in the outer cell. The air follows the sloped walls and hits the ball at its periphery, eliminating distortion and breakage of the ball. The chamber located in the feed tube forces the ball into the barrel and creates a vacuum to eliminate the ball blowing back up the feed tube. The annular ring in the chamber in the barrel is partially blocked, directing the air to put a spin on the ball.
