  • Patent number: 9371210
Abstract: An elevator safety system including a controller, and a hoistway safety node arranged at a pit portion of an elevator hoistway. The hoistway node is operatively connected to one of a pit safety device and a lower hoistway device arranged at the elevator pit. A first bus links the hoistway node and the controller. The first bus passes communication signals directly from the hoistway node to the controller. A car node is arranged in an elevator car. The car node is operatively connected to a car safety device arranged at the elevator car. A second bus links the car node and the controller. The second bus passes communication signals directly from the car node to the controller.

  • Patent number: 4661813
Abstract: A binary indicator for providing an indication of a normal or malfunction condition of equipment being monitored, the indicator having a magnetic latching and damping arrangement which ensures that the indicator functions properly under typical random high vibrational operating conditions. The latching and damping arrangement includes three auxiliary magnets which are located in close proximity to a rotating bar magnet to which a rotatable disc shaped indicator member is attached. The auxiliary magnets are positioned so that they prevent the rotating bar magnet from slipping out of the normal or "set" position into the malfunction or "fault" position or from slipping out of the "fault" position into the "set" position. Additionally, the auxiliary magnets dampen the movement of the rotating bar magnet when the bar magnet is reset to the "set" position from the "fault" position. The first auxiliary magnet is positioned in close proximity to a first end of the bar magnet when it is in the "set" position.

  • Patent number: 4132986
Abstract: An indicator flag is movable alternately into one of a plurality of display positions thereby to provide a distinguishable visual indication in each position. The indicator flag carried by a movable assembly is actuated by electromagnetic means and the movable assembly is latched in each display position. A pair of switches are associated with and controlled by the movable assembly from a normally closed to an open condition. The switches may function variously to control associated equipment or switch the electromagnetic means so that drive energy is required only during transition of the indicator flag from one of the plurality of display positions to another, among others.

  • Patent number: 4115769
Abstract: A binary indicator including a pair of indicator discs mounted along a common axis has means for damping rotational movement of a resetting structure in one direction following movement imparted to the resetting structure in the other direction for purposes of resetting the relative positions of the indicator discs to their relative positions prior to their relative relocation occasioned by a fault or malfunction condition. One indicator disc undergoes movement, the movement in both directions being induced magnetically. And, movement of the resetting structure in the other rotational direction is against the forces of rotational elasticity of spring means. A force for damping rotational movement of the resetting structure in the one rotational direction is developed by viscous-shear frictional engagement between a pair of friction discs biased into juxtaposition with a viscous film therebetween by the spring means under compression.
