  • Patent number: 8136195
Abstract: A handle for an implement for cleaning a surface, such as a floor, includes an elongated pole, an end cap and a hang cap. The elongated pole has a top end and a bottom end. The bottom end of the elongated pole is adapted to be coupled to a cleaning head on the implement. The end cap is fixedly mounted over the top end of the pole and the hang cap is movably mounted over the end cap. The end cap and hang cap are constructed so that when the hang cap is mounted in place on the end cap, the hang cap may rotate relative to the end cap but cannot move up or down relative to the end cap. The hang cap may define a hole for removably mounting the implement on a hook attached to a wall.

  • Patent number: 7721381
Abstract: A cleaning pad is adapted to be releasably retained on a cleaning implement which includes on its cleaning head either multiple strips of pile-type fastener material or a plurality of attachment structures. The cleaning pad includes a top layer constructed of polyethylene and a bottom layer constructed of rayon. The top and bottom layers are affixed together along their peripheries by a bond line so as to define an enclosed pocket therebetween which is sized and shaped to receive a middle layer constructed of wood pulp paper. Multiple strips of hook-type fastener material are secured on the top layer and are adapted to releasably engage complimentary strips of pile-type fastener material on the cleaning implement. One or more mounting tabs are secured on the bottom layer and are adapted to releasably engage complimentary attachment structures on the cleaning implement. Each mounting tab can be disposed between a retracted, or folded, position and an extended, or unfolded, position.

  • Publication number: 20090249568
Abstract: A mop having a handle with a wringing frame disposed at a distal end, which defines a cam slot. An actuator lever is pivotally attached to the handle intermediate the distal and proximal ends and is coupled to an actuator linkage that extends into the internal hollow of the handle and connects to a pad plate, which supports a cleaning pad, such as a sponge thereon at the distal end of the mop. The pad plate has hinges that permit it to bend upon itself. When the actuator lever is moved to wring the cleaning pad, the actuator linkage pulls the pad plate at least partially through the cam slot, causing it to bend at the hinges and wring the cleaning pad supported thereon.

Abstract: In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for measuring the effectiveness of an advertising display. A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag may be associated with an advertising display in a retail environment. One or more receivers may be used to receive an RFID signal from the RFID tag. One or more processors may be used to receive the RFID signal from the receivers to determine a time period during which the advertising display is located within the retail environment. The one or more processors may also receive sales data from the retail environment relating to an amount of sales of one or more products associated with the advertising display over the time period that the advertising display is located within the retail environment. The one or more processors may compare the sales data with one or more sets of control data to measure the effectiveness of the advertising display.

  • Patent number: 6094033
Abstract: A battery state of charge (SOC) detector for rapid charging and method each provide an efficient means for formatting, charging, and recharging batteries of various types and ratings. The detector determines the SOC of a battery to be charged and then selects an optimal charging signal profile based on the SOC determination. During the charging process, the detector can continuously monitor battery SOC in order to select appropriate waveforms for the charging signal. The charging signal is a pulse width and amplitude modulated current, voltage or power waveform with the amplitude and pulse width of each charging pulse being selected based upon the detected battery SOC. Predetermined battery parameters, such as equivalent circuit capacitance and resistance, electrochemical overcharge, maximum battery temperature, and maximum battery internal pressure, among others, also can be compared with monitored values during the battery charging process to control the charging signal in order to avoid battery damage.
