Publication number: 20040207127Abstract: A method of producing laminated inflatable, substantially inextensible expander members having composite properties enhancing their use on intravascular catheters, such as angioplasty catheters is described. Diverse polymeric compounds of differing properties are coextruded to create a multilayer parison. The parison is subsequently drawn and expanded in a blow molding operation to yield an expander member exhibiting enhanced properties including lubricity, burst-strength, limited radial expansion, bondability, and rupture characteristics.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2004Publication date: October 21, 2004Applicant: Schneider (USA) Inc., a corporationInventor: Robert N. Publication number: 20030217446Abstract: A clamping hanger for slidably coupling a shower curtain to a hanging rod. The hanger comprises a sliding connector portion adapted for slidable coupling to and along a rod. The sliding connector portion is a loop with a predetermined body width, and a predetermined body length. The body forms a central cylindrical region, having a longitudinal axis, and the rod is operatively disposed in the cylindrical region. A clamping connector portion is unitarily constructed with the sliding connector portion, and adapted for engaging a sheet. The clamping connector has first and second mating portions between which a portion of the sheet is disposed in operation. The clamping connector portion extends radially away, a predetermined distance from the sliding connector portion. The first and second mating portions have a mating face. The mating faces of the mating portions have at least two mating elements having predetermined complementary geometries.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2003Publication date: November 27, 2003Inventors: Robert N. Patent number: 6129690Abstract: The upper and lower sections (12, 14) of a splint (10) are pivotable about a pivot axis (17) by a pair of pivot assemblies (16). Each pivot assembly (16) includes a housing (18) having a cylindrical side wall (20) and a spacer (30) having a cam track (34). The housing (18) is closed by a closure plate (36) which pivotably mounts an arcuate brake shoe (46) and which mounts a cam (60). Relative rotation of the housing (18) and closure plate (36) causes the cam (60) to follow on the cam track (34) for pivoting the brake shoe (46) to engage the side wall (20) with variable braking force. In preferred forms, a compression block (80) having an aperture (82) formed therein is positioned between the brake shoe axis and the end of the brake shoe (46) to provide a visual indication of the resistance force. In preferred forms, a V-shaped projection (90) is formed on the brake shoe (46) for slideable receipt in a V-shaped groove (84) formed in the side wall (20).Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: EMPI Corp.Inventors: Robert N. Patent number: 5964353Abstract: Carrier tape (12) is disclosed which absorbs kinetic energy and protects the leads (34, 34') of electronic circuit components (32) from bending or being otherwise damaged in an industry drop test. The components (32) are supported in pockets (22) by platforms (40) which are free of ridges extending above the bottoms of the components (32). The free ends of the leads (34) simultaneously engage ramp portions (42) of the pocket sidewalls (24) which are inclined upwardly and outwardly from the pocket bottoms (26) to center the components (32) in the pockets (22). The pockets (22) are of a size to sandwich the components (32) against the platforms (40) when the carrier tape (12) is in a stacked arrangement such as by being wound on a reel (58). The pocket bottoms (26) include undercuts (54) allowing the pocket bottoms (26) in an upper layer to sandwich two different components (32) in two circumferentially adjacent pockets (22) of the lower layer.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1997Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Assignee: Ilinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert N. Patent number: 5664680Abstract: A carrier tape (12) is disclosed including a plurality of longitudinally spaced pockets (22) extending parallel to index holes (20). Each pocket (22) includes side walls (24) and a bottom (26) having provisions (28) for holding a microchip (32). Abutments (38) having semicircular cross sections are integrally formed on the side walls (24) for engaging the free ends of the leads (34) of the microchip (32) to prevent their engagement with the side walls (24). A greater number of abutments (38) at lesser spacings are provided than the leads (34) of the microchip (32) to prevent the leads (34) from hooking between the abutments (38). The abutments (38) are arranged to minimize the number of leads (34) actually engaged and to minimize the actual area contacted by the free ends of the leads (34) with the abutments (38). The shape of the abutments (38) also optically disperses major portions of the reflection of the leads (34).Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1996Date of Patent: September 9, 1997Assignee: CariTech Inc.Inventor: Robert N. Patent number: 4022353Abstract: A dispenser for metering predetermined charges of shot or other particulate material by means of a slidable charging plate, incorporates a shear slide device which prevents shot that become trapped between a supply hopper and the charging plate from either jamming the charging plate or being sheared into irregular pieces. The device also withholds the trapped shot from the metered charge, and thereby increases the uniformity of the quantities metered.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1975Date of Patent: May 10, 1977Assignee: Remington Arms Company, Inc.Inventor: Robert N.
