  • Patent number: 5086811
Abstract: An intermediate support for a weaving heddle frame in which the support carries both tensile and compressive forces between the upper and lower frame staves. The support can be disengaged from the lower frame stave simply by loosening a fastener at the top of the support and can then be swung upwardly to clear the space between the two frame staves. The support comprises a flexible cable, surrounded by at least three rigid hollow segments. In use, the lower end of the cable is inserted into a slot in the lower frame stave and the upper end of the cable into a slot in the upper frame stave. The two slots are aligned vertically. The cable is tensioned by the use of a plug which is connected to the upper end of the cable and which threadedly engages nuts attached to the upper frame stave. When tension is applied to the cable, the lower stave is urged upward into contact with the lower end of the rigid hollow member and the upper stave is urged downward into contact with the upper end of the rigid hollow member.

  • Patent number: 5082031
Abstract: An intermediate support for a weaving heddle frame in which heddle carrying rods are affixed to the frame stave, the support transmitting both tensile and compressive forces between these rods. The support can be disengaged from the lower heddle carrying rod simply by loosening a fastener at the top of the support and can then be swung upwardly to clear the space between the two heddle carrying rods. The support comprises a flexible cable, partially surrounded by at least one rigid hollow segment. Tension forces in the cable and compressive forces in the rigid hollow member hold the upper and lower heddle carrying rods, as well as the upper and lower frame staves affixed thereto, in a predetermined parallel relationship.

  • Patent number: 5027478
Abstract: A coiling clamp for linear flexible material is formed as a unitary plastic, metal or wooden body member having circumferentially spaced outwardly opening receiving recesses which may be of different sizes to receive different sizes of the linear material such as garden hose, electrical extension cords, water-ski ropes and the like.

  • Patent number: 4978330
Abstract: A tape dispenser of the type where the tape passes over the cutter that has the means to allow a tab to be formed on the end portion of the tape that will not accidentally bond back to the tape roll. The means comprises three different embodiments. First, a raisable lifting member, with a horizontal projection and an opening, is located between the tape roll and cutter and below the outstretched tape. When the lifting member is raised it forms a hump in the outstretched tape. The hump is then pinched, in the opening under the projection, to form a tab. The second embodiment consists of a stationary tab-forming structure, consisting of a generally horizontal projection, located between the tape roll and cutter, but above the normal axis of the outstretched tape. To form the tab, the tape is lifted and draped over the elevated horizontal projection, and then pinched in the opening under the projection to form the tab.

  • Patent number: 4944720
Abstract: A tab-forming apparatus for forming a tab on the end of the outstretched tape on a tape dispenser, the tape dispenser being of the type where the outstretched tape passes from the tape roll and under the tape cutter, with the adhesive side of the tape facing down. A joint allows the outer end of the cutter to swing down and onto the tape causing the tape to fold back on itself creating a tab where the two adhesive surfaces contact each other. Two short positioning projections hold the tape in contact with the swinging cutter. The positioning projections located under the adhesive side of the tape having rotating surfaces to reduce the interference with the tape passing over them.

  • Patent number: 4894926
Abstract: A dipstick guide to aid in the insertion of a dipstick into a dipstick tube when measuring the level of oil in the engine or replacing the dipstick in the dipstick tube comprising an upper frusto-conical body whose side converges into one end of a smaller central body or tube portion, the other end of which then diverges into a lower body or frusto-conical skirt, smaller than the upper body, the two opposed frusto-conical bodies having sides which diverge in opposite directions from each other, and a slot extending axially along the length of the guide from one end to the other to allow removal of the guide, sidewise, when the dipstick has been partially inserted into the dipstick tube. An upstanding handle on the upper body facilitates the positioning of the dipstick guide onto the dipstick tube, and allows for the dipstick guide to be manually removed from the dipstick tube, and then moved out of the way of the dipstick.
