  • Publication number: 20060179300
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system for enhancing the security of wireless networks. In one aspect, a wireless access point that functions as a bridge between two networks is provided. The wireless access point is configured to establish separate associations for itself and each device connected to it. This provides for enhanced security in that each device connected to the wireless access point may be separately authenticated and in that separate encryption tunnels are established for each device connected to the wireless access point.

  • Publication number: 20050273790
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a networked media station providing a variety of features including a wireless network interface, a wired network interface, a peripheral interface, and a multimedia interface. The wireless network interface(s) allows the device to communicate to serve as a wireless base station or repeater and/or a bridge between a wireless and a wired network. The peripheral interface allows the device to communicate with a variety of peripherals, and, in conjunction with the network interface(s), allows sharing of a peripheral among multiple networked computers. The multimedia interface allows the device to be used with entertainment devices for streaming of multimedia information from a network connected computer to the entertainment device. Control of various aspects of the device is preferably controlled from a network connected computer.

  • Publication number: 20050115761
Abstract: In a device for wireless transmission of electrical signals between the steering wheel of a vehicle and the chassis of the vehicle, a first transmission module, which includes a microcontroller and a transmitter for electromagnetic waves, is provided on the steering wheel. The microcontroller is designed to condition and convert electrical signals of operator control elements, arranged on the steering wheel, into signals which are suitable for the transmitter module. A second transmission module which includes a receiver and a microcontroller is arranged on a fixed region or chassis of the vehicle. The latter microcontroller is designed to convert signals which are received in the receiver into switching and/or control signals for electrical devices of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040249526
Abstract: A data protocol converter has two interfaces, one of which can be connected to a standard vehicle diagnostic interface, and the other permitting wireless message transfer using a diagnostic handset. A data protocol translator converts the messages from the standard vehicle diagnostic interface into messages having a wireless data format, so that they can be received in the diagnostic handset using the latter's wireless interface. The data protocol converter has a further interface so that it can be connected to a second standard diagnostic interface according to a different standard. The data protocol translator can convert the messages from the second standard vehicle diagnostic interface into messages having a wireless data format.

  • Publication number: 20040225415
Abstract: A universal computer for a transport means, comprising a microprocessor for the processing of control programs, a storage means, for the data thus calculated and an interface which permits a connection of the computer to a databus in the transport means. The computer comprises control programs for controlling device provided in the transport means, whereby the control commands are transmitted to the device to be controlled by means of device interfaces. The computer also comprises reconfigurable hardware, which permits a retroactive reconfiguration of peripheral components or an interface in the assembled state of the computer. Transmission means are provided which transmit an algorithm for reconfiguration of the hardware to the storage means on the transport means, so that a process for reconfiguration of the hardware associated with the peripheral components or the interface may be carried out.
