  • Publication number: 20220057214
Abstract: Flight control systems, flight control methods, and aircraft navigation systems and methods are provided. A method for estimating a sound level at a geographical location including determining, by an aircraft navigational processor, an initial navigational route, estimating, by the aircraft navigational processor, the sound level at the geographical location in response to a first sound pressure wave estimated to be generated by the aircraft at a first point along the initial navigational route and a second sound pressure wave generated by the aircraft at a second point along the initial navigational route, determining, by the aircraft navigational processor, an alternate navigational route in response to the sound level exceeding a noise limit at the geographical location, and displaying, by a user interface, the alternate navigational route and an alert indicative of the sound level exceeding the noise limit.

  • Patent number: 11136141
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to methods and systems for avoiding a collision between an aircraft on the ground and an obstacle using a three-dimensional visual indication of the area or plane of winglets on the wingtips of the aircraft. The method includes receiving a video image from a camera positioned in one of the winglets, the video image representing a field of view through which the winglet of the aircraft will pass along a present heading of the aircraft. Next a processor determines a three-dimensional area or plane within the field of view through which the winglet of the aircraft will pass. An overlay is displayed within the field of view to assist the pilot in avoiding collisions with obstacles.

  • Patent number: 10417840
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computers for aircraft are provided. A system includes a portable device and an on-board computer for an aircraft. The on-board computer is configured to record preliminary squawk events that occur while the aircraft is in flight for potential corrective action. The portable device is configured to communicate with the on-board-computer and is configured for: receiving—from the on-board computer—preliminary squawk events that occur while the aircraft is in flight; presenting the preliminary squawk events; receiving approval inputs that indicate approved squawk events of the preliminary squawk events; and generating a squawk list that includes each of the approved squawk events to be investigated for corrective action after the flight.

  • Publication number: 20180232960
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to methods, systems and apparatus for automated generation a flight log and a squawk list file. A computer records a preliminary flight log data file (PFLDF), and automatically generates a preliminary squawk list file (PSLF) that includes a plurality of squawk events recorded while an aircraft is in flight. A wireless communication device includes a processor configured to execute a software application, a display that displays a graphical user interface that presents each squawk event from the PSLF for review, and an input system configured to receive inputs including an input for each particular squawk event. These inputs for each particular squawk event can be an edit input, an approval input, or a removal input.

  • Patent number: 9972142

A computer records a preliminary flight log data file (PFLDF), and automatically generates a preliminary squawk list file (PSLF) that includes a plurality of squawk events recorded while an aircraft is in flight. A portable wireless communication device executes a software application, which can cause a display to display each squawk event from the PSLF for review. An input system receives an input for each particular squawk event. These inputs for each particular squawk event can be an edit input, an approval input, or a removal input. When all squawk events in the PSLF have been reviewed, the processor can generate a final flight log and a final squawk list file (FSLF) that includes each of the squawk events from the PSLF that have been reviewed and approved for inclusion in the final squawk list.

  • Patent number: 9725186
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to methods for requesting and retrieving aircraft data during flight of an aircraft. This aircraft data can be used to perform additional monitoring of aircraft sub-systems to detect an abnormal condition, and/or to identify one or more sources that are causing the abnormal condition. In one embodiment, aircraft data for one or more relevant parameters can be requested from the ground, measured on-board the aircraft, and stored in a data file that is then communicated back to personnel on the ground. The real-time aircraft data for one or more relevant parameters can then be analyzed to identify the one or more sources that are causing the abnormal condition.

  • Patent number: 9569848
Abstract: An enhanced vision system is provided for an aircraft performing a landing maneuver. Accordingly to non-limiting embodiments, a processor onboard the aircraft receives data from sensors or systems onboard the aircraft and determines a position of the aircraft relative to a runway using the data. Responsive to this determination, the processor adjusts the gain of a first vision system and a second vision system. Images from the first vision system and the second vision system are merged and displayed to the pilot until the completion of the landing maneuver.

  • Publication number: 20150128457
Abstract: Provided is a protective heel enclosure device that is adapted to prevent the back of the footwear from becoming scuffed or damaged while worn by a user. The footwear protector includes a sleeve having an upper and an elongated heel portion extending downward therefrom. The upper portion of the sleeve includes a zipper, which facilitates the opening of the upper portion of the sleeve. The heel portion of the sleeve includes a sole portion attached thereon, which provides traction so as to prevent skidding. The sleeve is constructed to fit snugly to the back and heel of the footwear. In this way, the protective heel enclosure device of the present invention will not tend to move or will only move relatively minimally against the footwear as it protects the back and heel of the footwear and prolongs the life of the same.
