  • Patent number: 6074450
Abstract: A filter assembly for use in filtering air in an air conditioning system has a front grille through which air enters the assembly and a rear grille through which filtered air is exited. A frame is attached to the grilles, joining these grilles together to form a container structure. An air permeable filter element in the form of a pleated or undulating sheet is installed in the container structure, the opposite ends of the pleated sheet being attached to opposing sides of the frame. The pleated sheet runs between the front and rear grilles and extends from the top to the bottom of the grilles. The filter sheet has a filtering media which may be of microglass on the surface thereof which faces the front grille and a stiffened backing on the surface facing the rear grille.

  • Patent number: 5512074
Abstract: A filter assembly of the Vee-panel type including a filter frame and a plurality of complementary pairs of replaceable and interchangeable filter panels slidably mounted within the frame and defining a plurality of adjacent Vees with the apexes of the Vees being disposed adjacent the air outlet end of the assembly. The filter frame defines a plurality of rectangular perimeter panel retention surfaces adjacent the sides of the filter panels for retaining the panels in place and forming an airtight perimeter seal therewith. A compressible gasket is disposed about each of the panel retention surfaces. The extended ends of each of the filter panels is provided with an end cap secured thereto. Each end cap defines a pair of identically configured cam surfaces thereon proximate the extended ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 4865636
Abstract: An interlocking wedge for pleated paper filter elements of the type having a plurality of pleated paper filter panels secured in a frame in a zig-zag configuration with plural apexes adjacent both the upstream and downstream ends of the frame forming plural wedge shaped air inlet and outlet spaces and a plurality of elongated V-shaped spacing wedges disposed in the downstream wedge shaped air outlet spaces adjacent the panels wherein the downstream end of each of the wedges extends transversely through one of the outlet openings in the downstream end of the frame and define recessed areas so as to provide an interference fit between said portions of the wedges in the downstream end of the frame to interlock the wedges with the frame and thereby prevent lateral separation of the wedges with respect to the frame upon the element being subject to uneven loading.
