  • Publication number: 20060147455
Abstract: The application discloses caner-associated genes and their products, especially those identifiable by SEREX. The genes and products are used to identify, track and treat cancer. Preferably the cancer is a gastro-intestinal cancer.

  • Publication number: 20060129778
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for managing storage space allocation. The apparatus includes a recognizing module, a reserving module, and a managing module. The recognizing module recognizes a trigger event at a client of the data storage system. The reserving module reserves logical units of space for data storage. The management module manages the logical units of space at the client. Such an arrangement provides for distributed management of storage space allocation within a storage area network (SAN). Facilitating client management of the logical units of space in this manner may reduce the number of required metadata transactions between the client and a metadata server and may increase performance of the SAN file system. Reducing metadata transactions effectively lowers network overhead, while increasing data throughput.

  • Publication number: 20050163885
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a dough improver, the method comprises the steps of, (a) mixing flour, water and a source of fermentation enzymes; (b) allowing the mixture to ferment; (c) co-mixing further flour and water with the fermented mixture; and (d) allowing the co-mixture to ferment.

  • Publication number: 20050132154
Abstract: A method and system for election of a cluster leader in a storage area network is provided Each node in a grouping of storage area network nodes communicates with each of the nodes on a periodic basis to determine if any of the nodes have failed (42). In the event of a cluster fault, each node may request a position of cluster leader. A pruning protocol (60) is invoked to ensure efficient convergence of a single cluster leader candidate to favor a majority grouping leader candidate to become the new cluster leader. In the event the leader candidate from the majority grouping has failed to become the new cluster leader, a minority grouping leader candidate can become the cluster leader. Following the pruning protocol, a voting protocol (100) is invoked followed by lock of the quorum disk (138) by the elected cluster leader candidate.

  • Publication number: 20050015602
Abstract: A method of passing data securely from an originator to a recipient comprises the steps of: the originator selecting a condition that the recipient must meet for receipt of the data; the originator selecting a trusted party; the originator selecting a first key without reference to the condition; the originator encrypting the data using the first key; the originator making the condition, and the encrypted data available to the recipient; the recipient providing the trusted party with evidence that it meets the condition; the trusted party satisfying itself that the recipient does meet the condition and providing the first key to the recipient, and the recipient decrypting the data using the first key.

  • Publication number: 20020156911
Abstract: Systems and methods for, inter alia, allowing a remote user to access content, such as data or an executable program, on demand from a remoter server. When accessed the content can be delivered on demand to the user's remote workstation for use by the user. As network resources may vary, the systems described herein further include systems that will monitor network resources, and other factors, versus the transfer demands for the content requested by the user. The systems may then determine a schedule, or load map, for transferring blocks of the content in a way that efficiently employs the available resources, and in a way that provides the user with a user-experience that is similar, or substantially similar, to the user-experience that the user would have if the content were stored locally on the user's workstation.

  • Patent number: 5897661
Abstract: An apparatus, a method, and a computer program product conceptually provide a logical unit of undivided data storage that spans physical storage device boundaries. The apparatus manages the logical unit of undivided storage using metadata information stored on the physical storage devices. Advantageously, the apparatus replicates a minimum portion of the metadata information across all of the data storage devices and favors writing metadata only in the devices where the information is required to operate. In a preferred embodiment, a logical unit of undivided storage is created by defining a logical volume and allocating portions of available physical data storage devices thereto in order to provide a minimum logical volume size. Metadata is generated and stored on the data storage devices to provide detailed information about the portions of each data storage device that have been allocated to the logical volume.
