  • Publication number: 20190011001
Abstract: A flywheel device includes an enclosure that surrounds an interior chamber that includes a rotor, which during normal operation is maintained in a vacuum state and spinning, the enclosure includes a first opening, and a valve that attaches to the enclosure, configured to enable, when actuated, ambient air to flow from the exterior of the enclosure into the chamber through the first opening, thus allowing the internal air pressure to rapidly approach ambient air pressure and thereby increase the air drag which acts as a brake on the spinning rotor.

  • Publication number: 20180190418
Abstract: An apparatus and method for unloading a rotor bearing is described. The apparatus includes an electromagnet for levitating the rotor. In one embodiment, a sensor of the magnetic field near the electromagnet is used to control the current to levitate the rotor. In another embodiment, a method is provided that includes rotating the rotor, increasing the current to levitate the rotor and decrease the gap between electromagnet and rotor, and then reducing the current to levitate the rotor with a minimal amount of electric power to the electromagnet.

  • Publication number: 20170364832
Abstract: Systems and methods for automated evaluation system routing are described herein. The system can include a memory, which can include a model database and a correlation database. The system can include a first user device and a second user device. The system can include at least one server. • Patent number: 9390361
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to methods and apparatuses for determining and verifying a location of an electronic label. A host system exchange information with the electronic label via ultrasonic data communication. The host system also identifies a location of the electronic label using an ultrasonic location technique. • Patent number: 9126353
Abstract: This disclosure relates to pelletized polyolefin resins. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a process that allows for adjustment of certain desired properties of either the resin, such as modification of the bulk density of resin pellets, or adjustment of properties for the articles made from the resin, such as improved odor and taste properties, when used as a bottle cap, for example, or tailoring of the resin volatile or wax level, when used to make pipe, for example. • Patent number: 8479996
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a bar code reader 10 that can both interpret bar codes and determine a feature of a target object 230 not having a bar code affixed thereto. The bar code reader includes a housing including one or more transparent windows H, V and defining a housing interior region. As a target object is swiped or presented in relation to the transparent windows an image of the target object is captured. A camera C1-C6 has an image capture sensor array positioned within the housing interior region for capturing an image of a bar code within a camera field of view. An image processing system has a processor for decoding a bar code carried by the target object. If the target object has no bar code, the image processing system determines a feature such as a dimension of the target object from images captured by the imaging system.

  • Patent number: 8437646
Abstract: A paper feed system for use in a printing apparatus that detects multi-feeds and separates all sheets while allowing a single sheet to continue into the machine includes a nip with a drive roller for feeding sheets. A reversible pressure roller downstream of the drive roller is connected to a motor, but idles in the direction of the paper feed in normal operation. When a multi-feed is detected, the motor is turned ON and the reversible pressure roll actuated by a controller. The reversible pressure roller has more friction with the sheet in its contact than the friction between sheets. This drives the sheet in contact backwards.

This sheet can be diverted to a separate paper path using a gate mechanism and, if desired, fed back into the feed path.

  • Publication number: 20120164068
Abstract: The present invention provides an isolated protein comprising an immunoglobulin variable region comprising at least two cysteine residues positioned within framework region 1 such that if at least two of the cysteine residues are not conjugated to another compound a disulphide bond forms between the cysteine residues. Preferably the protein comprises an immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region and an immunoglobulin light chain variable region, wherein at least one of the variable regions comprises the two cysteine residues. The present invention also provides a protein that binds to TAG72. The present invention also provides conjugates of the protein and another compound.

  • Publication number: 20120029994
Abstract: A consumer can use his or her cell phone to scan barcodes from newspaper circulars at home, on a computer screen at home and/or to scan coupon barcodes positioned on the edge of shelves in a store or displayed on a kiosk in a store. The data from all these coupons is be combined into (preferably) a single 2D barcode or in the event of a large number of coupons, into a smaller number of 2D barcodes on the cell phone's display, for scanning by an imaging barcode scanner at the point of sale. This 2D barcode can also include the user's loyalty card information, so reading a single barcode off the screen of the phone can accomplish what formerly required multiple individual scans to accomplish.
