  • Patent number: 9015599
Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing control of switching of an interactive session in a communications network. Content may be switched between media presentation screens. Collected data is analyzed and a location of a user within the communications network is monitored. A presentation of a first screen the user is watching may be exchanged for a presentation of a second screen selected based upon a change in the location of a monitored user and the analysis of the collected data.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 21, 2015
    Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.
    Inventors: Jeffrey Aaron, Robert Streijl
  • Patent number: 8615575
Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing quality of service optimization via policy-based rearrangements. Customers are grouped for potential rearrangement. Multiple alternative options are generated for a particular group using policy rules. Policy rules for the particular group are used to evaluate each option using common metrics. Policy rules are used to select a best option for the particular group. The best option for the particular group is implemented.

  • Patent number: 8521177
Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing broad quality of service optimization using policy-based selective quality degradation. Data associated with a quality of service for customers and QoS policy rules are stored. Customers are grouped for potential degradation. Levels of degradation are defined for each type of user device. Degradation for the group of customers is optimized using policy rules. Degradation is adjusted to account for variations in user treatment within the group. The adjusted degradation is then implemented.

  • Patent number: 8346233
Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing services based upon identification of decision makers and owners associated with communication services. Data for providing communication services based upon identification of decision makers associated with communication services is stored, wherein the data including a user profile and default template identifying a default decision maker for a service. Policy rules and the stored data are analyzed. A new decision maker for a particular service is identified based upon the analysis of the policy rules and the stored data. The communication services are provided to the identified new decision maker.

  • Patent number: 8185489
Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing calendar-based communication system services. Data for providing calendar-based communication system services is stored. The data is classified. Policy rules are applied to identify candidate actions. the identified candidate actions are checked for feasibility. The identified candidate actions verified as being feasible are implemented. The candidate actions may include suggestions for the user, marketing material tailored to the user, and network actions selected for the user.

  • Patent number: 8149330
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for automated correction of closed-captioning data. Patterns of characters are stored in memory. A digital stream is received having the closed captioning data encoded therein. The closed captioning data is decoded from the received digital stream. A sequence of closed captioning characters is acquired from the decoded closed captioning data. The memory is queried for the sequence of closed captioning characters. If the sequence of closed captioning characters contains a pattern stored in the memory, then the sequence of closed captioning characters is diverted to a syntactical checker. If the sequence of closed captioning characters fails to contain the patterns of characters, then the sequence of closed captioning characters is processed for display.

  • Patent number: 8064348
Abstract: Methods and computer program products for gathering a traffic profile for an endpoint device operably coupled to a network. Methods include simultaneously sending a set of numerically sequenced packets to a plurality of endpoint devices on the network including the endpoint device, wherein the plurality of endpoint devices are time synchronized with the numerically sequenced packets; receiving the numerically sequenced packets at the endpoint device; electronically storing packet data for the numerically sequenced packets at the endpoint device, wherein the packet data is stored for a user configurable time period; collecting the packet data within the user configurable time period; and using the collected packet data to determine packet loss information or packet sequence information for the endpoint device.
