Publication number: 20240164778Abstract: An apparatus includes a proximal body portion configured to be gripped by a user, a distal body portion that terminates at a spreading tip configured to spread a topical skin adhesive along an application surface, and a flexural body portion that interconnects the proximal and distal body portions to define a monolithic body. In response to an input force applied by a user to the proximal body portion when the spreading tip is positioned against the application surface, the flexural body portion is configured to buckle non-uniformly along a lateral width of the apparatus. Additionally, or alternatively, the flexural body portion is configured to elastically deform so that the distal body portion angularly deflects relative to the proximal body portion to thereby limit to a predetermined range a resultant normal force exerted by the spreading tip on the topical skin adhesive along the application surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2023Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Jason T. Perkins, Grant S. Miller, Douglas E. Souls, Robert A. Rousseau

Patent number: 11943679Abstract: Location mapping and navigation user interfaces may be generated and presented via mobile computing devices. A mobile device may detect its location and orientation using internal systems, and may capture image data using a device camera. The mobile device also may retrieve map information from a map server corresponding to the current location of the device. Using the image data captured at the device, the current location data, and the corresponding local map information, the mobile device may determine or update a current orientation reading for the device. Location errors and updated location data also may be determined for the device, and a map user interface may be generated and displayed on the mobile device using the updated device orientation and/or location data.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2022Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Robert William Mayor, Isaac T. Patent number: 11834860Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for installing a fence. In most embodiments the device comprises three main areas: the driver area, the installer area, and the storage area. The driver area is where the driver of the device is located and comprises the necessary components to drive the device, such as a motor and steering mechanism. The installer area is where the fence installer is located, and in most embodiments is placed above the driver area so that the installer can access the top rail of the fence during installation. The storage area is where the fencing material is placed, often times as a roll. This roll is fed out of the storage area and installed by the installer while the device is driven down the length of the fence. This device beneficially decreases the amount of time and man-power required to install a fence.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2020Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Quick-Link, LLC.Inventor: Robert T. Miller, Sr.

Patent number: 7716213Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for efficiently supporting generic SQL data manipulation statements. The method includes determining whether an SQL statement includes extended indicator parameters such as DEFAULT and UNASSIGNED indicators. The method further includes delaying an authorization check for an operation for an SQL statement using extended indicators, and bypassing an SQL exception where an otherwise unauthorized operation involves an UNASSIGNED variable. The method further includes bypassing a database operation such as a referential integrity check where a data change would induce the database operation, but the data change involves an UNASSIGNED variable. The method further includes modifying the SQL statement when the SQL statement involves an UNASSIGNED variable in a predicate clause, allowing the SQL statement to properly execute.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2007Date of Patent: May 11, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Curt L. Cotner, Christopher M. Farrar, Robert T. Miller, Maryela E. Weihrauch
