  • Patent number: 9665562
Abstract: According to an aspect, a first word in a first language and a second word in a second language in a bilingual corpus are stemmed. A probability for aligning the first stem and the second stem and a distance metric between the normalized first stem and the normalized second stem are calculated. The first word and the second word are identified as a cognate pair when the probability and the distance metric meet a threshold criterion and stored as a cognate pair in a set of cognates. A candidate sentence in the second language is retrieved from a corpus. The candidate sentence is filtered by the active vocabulary of a user in the second language and the set of cognates. A sentence quality score is calculated for the candidate sentence; and the candidate sentence is ranked for presentation to the user based on the sentence quality scorer.

  • Publication number: 20120323599
Abstract: A system comprises a therapy tasks scheduling module (30) constructing a workflow schedule for performing a plurality of therapy tasks including dose optimizations, and a dose optimization module (26) performing a dose optimization in accordance with the workflow schedule to generate a therapy plan. The dose optimization module performs inverse radiation therapy planning that iteratively adjusts (82) a set of radiation therapy parameters (70) to optimize a simulated spatial dose distribution (72) respective to a set of radiation therapy objectives (78). In some embodiments, at least some iterations update a region of a fluence map that is smaller than the entire fluence map. In some embodiments, at least some iterations optimize the simulated spatial dose distribution respective to a subset of the set of radiation therapy objectives. In some embodiments, the simulated spatial dose distribution has a nonuniform voxel size.

  • Patent number: 7308400
Abstract: An arrangement for adapting statistical parsers to new data using a mathematical transform, particularly a Markov transform. In particular, it is assumed that an initial statistical parser is available and a batch of new data is given. The initial model is mapped to a new model by a Markov matrix, each of whose rows sums to one. In the unsupervised setup, where “true” parses are missing, the transform matrix is obtained by maximizing the log likelihood of the parses of test data decoded using the model before adaptation. The proposed algorithm can be applied to supervised adaptation, as well.

  • Patent number: 7191119
Abstract: A method of developing natural language understanding (NLU) applications can include determining NLU interpretation information from an NLU training corpus of text using a multi-pass processing technique. The alteration of one pass automatically can alter an input for a subsequent pass. The NLU interpretation information can specify an interpretation of at least part of the NLU training corpus of text. The NLU interpretation information can be stored in a database, and selected items of the NLU interpretation information can be presented in a graphical editor. User specified edits also can be received in the graphical editor.

  • Patent number: 6571209
Abstract: A method for designating a subvocabulary for speech recognition systems includes the steps of providing a vocabulary of words each having a flag with a first value, selecting words to be eliminated from the vocabulary, setting the flags of the selected words to a second value and processing speech based on words having the flag set to the first value. A program storage device readable by machine, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform method steps for disabling and enabling of subvocabularies in speech recognition systems, the method steps include providing a vocabulary of words each having a flag with a first value, selecting words to be eliminated from the vocabulary, setting the flags of the selected words to a second value and processing speech based on words having the flag set to the first value.

  • Patent number: 6246981
Abstract: A system for conversant interaction includes a recognizer for receiving and processing input information and outputting a recognized representation of the input information. A dialog manager is coupled to the recognizer for receiving the recognized representation of the input information, the dialog manager having task-oriented forms for associating user input information therewith, the dialog manager being capable of selecting an applicable form from the task-oriented forms responsive to the input information by scoring the forms relative to each other. A synthesizer is employed for converting a response generated by the dialog manager to output the response. A program storage device and method are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5365135
Abstract: A wedge assembly for use in retaining a conductive winding in the core slot of a dynamoelectric machine including a conformable hose positioned within the core slot and cooperable with the conductive winding. The conformable hose is useful in minimizing movement of the conductive winding during operation of the dynamoelectric machine by filling gaps caused during the assembly process. The conformable hose may be filled with a resinous material under pressure and may be further looped over the end of and attached to the top of the slot wedge for use in retaining optionally used wedge locks.

  • Patent number: 5258682
Abstract: A zone block assembly for maintaining a pressure barrier in an end area of a rotor in an electrodynamic system such as an electrical generator includes a zone block which is constructed and arranged to be positioned between a rotor and an end winding in an electrodynamic system to maintain a pressure barrier; and a spring in contact with the zone block for biasing the zone block with respect to the rotor. The spring is fabricated from a material which is non-metallic, so that it will not create destructive metallic projectiles within the electrodynamic system if it breaks as a result of fatigue.

  • Patent number: 4837469
Abstract: A cooling system for the parallel rings of an electrical generator. The system includes a coolant supply tank, supply and return lines, and a plurality of parallel, tubular liquid cooled conductor rings for conducting current generated in the stator windings of an electrical generator. Each ring has a coolant inlet, a coolant outlet, a central coolant passage and an adjustable flow controller which is selectively positionable so that its end portion lies inside the temperature coolant passage in the parallel rings to restrict the coolant flow for control purposes.

  • Patent number: 4831303
Abstract: Improved turbine generators including stator coil bracing and methods for bonding stator coils to diamond spacers to reduce the leakage of Corona suppressive compositions, such as CORONOX.RTM., are provided. The apparatus and methods include wrapping a portion of the stator coils coated with the Corona suppressive compositions with a reinforced layer which has been impregnated with a room-temperature polermerizing resin. • Patent number: 4800314
Abstract: A coil support arrangement for use in connection with a dynamoelectric machine equipped with a stator having top and bottom winding coil end portions arranged in phase groups and extending outwardly from the stator at each end thereof. The support arrangement consists of a support ring encircling the bottom winding coil end portions, blocking means providing lateral support for the coil end portions to restrain vibrational movement of the latter during machine operation and a series of bands for holding the coil end portions of the phase group, the related blocking means and the support ring together, with the blocking means disposed in axial alignment with the ring to thereby present a single blocked and banded, elongated phase group structure which extends circumferentially around the inside of the ring. The blocking means consists of a plurality of individual block elements which extend the full radial depth of the phase group structure to provide deep beam strength characteristics to the structure.
