  • Publication number: 20170293705
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an augmented reality by defining a model representing a real-world system. After defining the model, a plurality of model simulations are performed using the defined model which produce predicted field data that is stored in memory. In turn, data from one or more sensors in the real-world system is received and the defined model is calibrated using the received field data relative to the stored predicted field data. Then, an augmented reality of the real-world system is provided using the calibrated model.

  • Publication number: 20170191966
Abstract: A system and methods for defect detection and characterization in plate-like structures, more particularly to detect corrosion in complex plate-like structures that result in a deviation in thickness in at least a patch of the structure. The system comprises a plurality of transducers configured to be adjacent to at least a portion of a plate-like structure. A controller is coupled to the plurality of transducers. The method includes propagation of guided waves through the plate-like structure and capture of data to detect the presence of at least one defect using at least a pair of transmitting/receiving transducers based on a change in the velocity of wave transmission as compared to the velocity predicted for a pristine structure.

  • Patent number: 9674337
Abstract: A system and method for distraction mitigation wherein a location of a mobile device within one of one or more zones in a vehicle may be determined and the behavior of the mobile device and/or in-vehicle systems, with which the mobile device interacts, may be modified based on the determined location. In one example, the location of a smartphone may be determined to be within the area (a.k.a. zone) of an automobile cabin associated with a driver of the automobile and the smartphone user interface may be locked to prevent direct operation of the smartphone by the driver while still allowing indirect operation via, for example, a Bluetooth connection to an automobile infotainment system.

  • Publication number: 20150359946
Abstract: Antimicrobial metal ion coatings. In particular, described herein are coatings including an anodic metal (e.g., silver and/or zinc and/or copper) that is co-deposited with a cathodic metal (e.g., palladium, platinum, gold, molybdenum, titanium, iridium, osmium, niobium or rhenium) on a substrate so that the anodic metal is galvanically released as antimicrobial ions when the apparatus is exposed to a bodily fluid. The anodic metal may be at least about 25 percent by volume of the coating, resulting in a network of anodic metal with less than 20% of the anodic metal in the coating fully encapsulated by cathodic metal.
