  • Patent number: 6872693
Abstract: This invention relates to mineral oil based gear oils and transmission fluids which comprise a major amount of a mineral oil having an iodine number of less than 9 and where at least 55% of the saturates are aliphatic, and gear oil or transmission fluid additives. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a gear oil or transmission fluid composition comprising a major amount of lubricant basestock and at least one functional additive wherein a major amount of the lubricant basestock comprises a mineral oil having an iodine number of less than 9 and comprising at least 45% by weight of aliphatic saturates. These gear oils and transmission fluids have good viscosity and oxidation properties.

  • Publication number: 20040132629
Abstract: A lubricating oil composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a total of from about 1 to about 50% by weight of copolymers comprising (A) at least one ethylene-aliphatic olefin copolymer wherein the aliphatic olefins contain from 3 to about 24 carbon atoms, said copolymer (A) having {overscore (M)}n ranging from about 600 to about 5000, and (B) at least one copolymer comprising units derived from alkyl acrylate ester monomers containing from 2 to about 25 carbon atoms in the ester group, and optionally, from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of at least one member of the group consisting of vinyl aromatic monomers and nitrogen-containing vinyl monomers. said copolymer (B) having {overscore (M)}n ranging from about 10,000 to about 350,000, wherein the weight ratio of (A):(B) ranges from about 99:1 to about 1:99.

  • Patent number: 6482777
Abstract: This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a blend of a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, gear or transmission oil package and a top treatment which comprises at least one saturated fatty phosphate ester or salt, wherein the lubricating composition is free of saturated fatty phosphites. Tin another embodiment, the invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, at least one saturated fatty phosphate ester or salt, at least one polysulfide and at least one phosphorus antiwear or extreme pressure agent, wherein the lubricating composition is free of saturated fatty phosphites. The invention relates to additive combinations which when added to a lubricant can provide and improve frictional and, optionally, thermal stability properties. The additives include a phosphate ester or salt wherein the hydrocarbyl group of the phosphate is a fatty-saturated group.

  • Patent number: 4421166
Abstract: Injector apparatus is disclosed which includes a sealed self-contained replaceable vessel containing an ejectable material to be injected into the well-bore during well logging operations. The vessel comprises a flexible-wall, collapsible tubular-like cartridge which can be removed from the mounting apparatus in the string of logging tools and replaced with a new cartridge. Motive force apparatus pressurizes the material in the cartridge and a valve device, which is actuated by a solenoid device, controls the flow of material exiting from the cartridge. Passageways and an orifice in the mounting apparatus directs the flow of material from the valve device to the well-bore.
