Patent number: 10138097Abstract: A removable hoist assembly for lifting a load up and into a confined space in the form of a kit has a support structure releasably coupled to overhead structural beams in the confined space, a motor releasably coupled to the support structure above the support structure between the overhead structural beams, a hoist arm releasably coupled to the support structure to be rotatable and extendable with respect to the support structure, and a cable supported by the hoist arm. The cable has a free end positioned proximate a distal end of the hoist arm and configured to couple to the load and a terminal end coupled to the motor such that the cable extends and retracts with respect to the motor. The hoist arm support structure spreads the weight of the motor, hoist arm and the load across a plurality of the overhead structural beams.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2015Date of Patent: November 27, 2018Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Jose L. Cisnero, Kenneth L. McElhaney, Robert W. Dost, Kate A. Ackerman, Anthony Todd Lefkowicz, Jarrod P. Ming, Phillip W. Rogen, Dale R. Tallyn, Andrew B. Mgebroff, Christopher J. Sanchez, Tracy M. Brown

Patent number: 6922871Abstract: The present invention includes an apparatus for guiding movement of an object along a track. The apparatus includes an attachment member defining an opening. A bushing is positioned in the opening and the bushing is laterally moveable within the opening. A plunger is attached to the bushing and the plunger is configured to move towards and away from the bushing. A guide mechanism is pivotably attached to the plunger and the guide mechanism is moveable along the track. According to other aspects of the invention, a slider is used in combination with a roller as the guide mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2002Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Wrenn P. Holman, Chad L. Braunschweig, Robert W. Dost, Paul J. Wright, Jan Hutton, James G. Hutton

Patent number: 6435455Abstract: A decompression panel assembly (12) for use in an aircraft separation structure (14). The panel assembly includes a support pan (26) having an opening (28), a bull nose (64) extending outwardly from the support pan at the opening's edge, and a recess (62) surrounding the bull nose. An inner seal (70) is sized and located within the recess (62). A retaining ring (22) is provided and includes a number of fingers (84) formed from spaced-apart slits (86) extending into the retaining ring (22) from the ring's inner edge. The assembly (12) further includes a pressure relief panel (24) shaped similar to the support pan opening shape, though sized slightly larger. The pressure relief panel (24) is held between the support pan bull nose (64) and the retaining ring (22) during non-decompression use. A number of index pins (94) interconnect between the retaining ring and the support pan. A grill (30) is attached to the support pan to protect the pressure relief panel.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2000Date of Patent: August 20, 2002Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Wrenn P. Holman, Robert W. Dost, Ernest E. Williams, Jr., John A. Wilson, Raymond H. Horstman
