Patent number: 11299914Abstract: A latch dogging assembly comprises an electromagnet and an actuator mounted on a bracket. A guide slide is pivotally mounted on the bracket with a lead block coupled to the guide slide. A guide pin rides along an inner surface of the bracket causing the guide slide to pivot. A pawl is slidably engaged with the guide slide. A guide link includes a post. An armature is mounted to the panic bar and the post engages the pawl. When the actuator is energized to move the lead block, the pawl engages the post to pivot the armature and thereby cause the panic bar to move from the extended position to the depressed position. When the electromagnet is energized the armature is magnetically held preventing reverse pivoting of the guide link. A method for fully retracting a door latch is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2019Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: John Brennan, Larry Gene Corwin, Jr., Lawrence Harrell, IV, Robert W. Patent number: 10416204Abstract: A device for measuring voltage across a remote load includes a power supply configured to output a first output voltage to the remote load. A switch is selectively movable from a closed position to an open position. A measuring circuit measures a load voltage across the load when the switch is in the open position and determines a voltage difference between the first output voltage and the load voltage. The measuring circuit adjusts the first output voltage to a second output voltage to compensate for the voltage difference. A second A/D converter can also be coupled to the power supply. The second A/D converter measures a voltage across a resistor such that a change in the voltage indicates a change in the load voltage. The power supply is then adjusted to output a second output voltage to compensate for any change in load voltage.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2019Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 8802023Abstract: A steam autoclave (steam sterilization system) has a door for opening and closing an opening that defines the entrance to and exit from a steam sterilization chamber. The door may be latched and locked and pneumatically sealed when in a closed position. Preferably, the door has a convex portion that projects into the sterilization chamber when the door is in a closed position for aiding in providing an even distribution of steam throughout the sterilization chamber during operation of the steam autoclave.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2011Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: OnSite Sterilization LLCInventors: Robert W. Lewis, Timothy A. Barrett

Patent number: 8784732Abstract: A steam autoclave for treating Regulated Medical Waste that uses a condensate drainage system that provides for condensate drainage while the steam autoclave chamber remains pressurized during the steam treatment cycle to create pressure variations in the autoclave which are used to initiate the introduction of repeated bursts of steam into the waste during the steam treatment cycle. The repeated bursts of steam into the autoclave during the steam treatment cycle agitates the steam and waste contained in the autoclave, thereby enhancing steam penetration into the waste being treated and thereby enhancing biological kill efficacy.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2011Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: OnSite Sterilization LLCInventors: Robert W. Lewis, Timothy A. Barrett

Patent number: 8546132Abstract: An apparatus for safely and conveniently placing and retrieving biological indicators and/or computerized data tracers from deep within loads of Regulated Medical/Infectious Waste comprises a rod with a cavity for holding the biological indicators and/or computerized data tracers. Preferably, the rod is tapered to a point on one end, has a handle on the opposite end, and has a cover to enclose the cavity. Additionally, it is preferred that the rod is fitted with a movable sealing ring of soft material for sealing the area where the rod penetrates the waste load.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Inventors: Robert W. Lewis, Timothy A. Barrett

Steam autoclave having condensate bleed system, and condensate drainage system for a steam autoclave
Patent number: 8518340Abstract: A steam autoclave has a main drain line and an auxiliary drain line through which condensate in the autoclave chamber is drained, the auxiliary drain line having a conduit extending therethrough defining a path for condensate to move through the auxiliary drain line, and at least a portion of the conduit having a cross-section sized to permit effective draining of condensate through the conduit while the autoclave chamber is pressurized without substantial loss of steam pressure in the autoclave chamber. A sensor may be positioned in the autoclave chamber for sensing a pressure drop during condensate draining while the autoclave chamber is pressurized and for initializing insertion of additional pressurized steam into the autoclave chamber as needed to maintain adequate steam pressure in the autoclave chamber.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2007Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Inventors: Robert W. Lewis, Timothy A. Barrett -
