  • Patent number: 4922550
Abstract: A pair of rail adapters which replace visor rails used on the U.S. Army Ahe helmets, i.e. the AH-64 helmet. The rail adapters have a concave inner portion that is form fitted and attachable to the Apache helmet, with one rail adapter on each of the right and left upper front sides of the Apache helmet. The rail adapters have a convex outer portion that interface and is attachable with a visor guard Aviator's Night Vision Imaging System (ANVIS) goggle assembly and visor which are normally used with the U.S. Army ANVIS helmet, i.e. the SPH-4 helmet. Each of the rail adapters is made in one piece which has a thick upper portion with a half dovetailed open track in which the outer portion of the visor guard is attachable thereto. The rail adapters have a thin lower portion which provides clearance with the visor and the ANVIS goggle assembly when the visor and the assembly are in the line of sight position.

  • Patent number: 4647783
Abstract: An improved test system is provided for infrared imaging devices, such as e Army's FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) device. The system employs a moving belt made from one of the complementary portions of a hook-and-loop fabric that fastens to itself, such as a nylon product sold under the trademark "VELCRO". Strips of the other portion of the same fabric are bonded to target members of a variety of shapes, sizes and compositions, which are mounted on the belt and heated to various programmed temperatures as the belt is moved. Test results are recorded with a TV type camera and associated electronic computer type equipment from the screen of the imaging device.

  • Patent number: H779
Abstract: A miniature daytime dynamic alphanumeric/graphic flight symbology generator and display system in which raw aircraft data, such as altitude, airspeed, heading etc., are generated by a display generator into symbology indicating the data intensity. The symbology is transmitted by a signal transmission means, to a symbology image source by a means such as fiber optic links in case of optical signals or flexible cable in case of electrical signals. The symbology from the image source is projected onto a combiner directly in the line of sight of the aviator so that symbology indicating the various conditions of the aircraft is viewed by the aviator as an overlay with the actual scene. The combiner is enlarged to provide a 30.degree. field of view and has a spectral coating thereon to enhance the symbology for daytime viewing. The display generator has a variable control means to increase the data intensity for daytime viewing.
