The processing can include checking whether conditions specified in trigger information are satisfied for at least one page of the document and/or for the entire document. Based on the checking, an action associated with the trigger information can be executed that changes the print data. The print data supplied as input print data can be output as output print data after the execution of the action. For example, images, text, barcodes, and/or graphics may be inserted via in the action. Finishing options may also be added, or fonts may be changed.

If so, a target PDF file is generated wherein, in addition to information of the source PDF file, all referenced external objects are included in the target PDF file in an embedded form. The target PDF file is converted into print data and the target PDF file is printed.

Abstract: In a method or system for processing a color print image for digital printing at a predetermined printing apparatus, the print image is deconstructed into color separations according to characteristic color curves of the printing apparatus. The color separations are stored in a data unit as greyscale bitmap images and at least one of a color code and color values are associated with each color separation in the data unit. The print image encoded in the data unit is presented at a display device for monitoring or management before printout at the printing apparatus, the print image being presented at the display device by means of at least one of the color code and color values associated with the respective color separations such that the individual color separations are transparently superimposed.
