  • Patent number: 11876239
Abstract: An electric vehicle including side impact battery pack protection mechanism for reducing damage to a battery pack in the event of a side impact, the electric vehicle including a vehicle frame, a battery pack, and one or more side impact battery pack protection brackets configured to at least of enable the vehicle battery pack to shift along a vehicle width direction or enable physical separation of the battery pack from the vehicle frame.

    Assignee: POLESTAR PERFORMANCE AB
    Inventor: Robert Wassmur
  • Publication number: 20230158877
Abstract: An electric vehicle battery pack release system configured to cause a physical separation of a battery pack from an electric vehicle on to which the battery pack is mounted, including one or more pyrotechnic bracket assembly configured to operably couple a battery pack to an electric vehicle, one or more sensor configured to sense a state of the electric vehicle, and an electronic control unit configured to receive data from the one or more sensors and to trigger an explosion in the one or more pyrotechnic bracket assemblies to affect the physical separation of the battery pack from the electric vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20220149454
Abstract: Systems and methods of thermal control in a resilient battery cooling system ensure that power is maintained to operate a cooler even when an event disables a battery cell. The cooler can therefore prevent thermal propagation from the affected cell to neighboring cells.

  • Publication number: 20220089030
Abstract: A system as described herein can be used to maintain safety features for an electric vehicle. These features include redundant low-voltage power provision and redundant cooling, each provided by use of multiple battery strings.

  • Patent number: 7516611
Abstract: The present invention relates to a secondary air injection system for an internal combustion engine, and an automotive vehicle comprising such a secondary air injection system. The arrangement includes shut-off valve for selectively passing on or restricting airflow form the secondary air injection system. A flexible connector is arranged to receive the airflow and pass it on to at least two reed-type non-return valves arranged to substantially only allow airflow in the downstream direction. At the downstream side of each respective reed-type non-return valve a conduit for communicating any airflow passed there through to an associated exhaust bank of the internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20070163246
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for cooling an exhaust system of a vehicle having an internal combustion engine. The arrangement includes a controller for detecting an elevated temperature condition of the exhaust system, such as a so called hot soak condition, as well as detecting a predetermined engine operating status, such as either of an engine shutdown, a stopped or an idling status. A secondary air injection system may then be actuated to inject ambient air into the exhaust system thereby cooling said exhaust system.
