  • Patent number: 9703749
Abstract: In a method for synchronizing a control unit and at least one peripheral unit having actuators and/or sensors, the control unit and the peripheral unit exchange data with each other via a serial interface. The control unit transmits data to the at least one peripheral unit which is processed in the peripheral unit for the operation of the actuators and/or sensors, and at least one synchronization character is transmitted from the control unit to the peripheral unit for the synchronization. In this context, the synchronization character is appended by the control unit to a first data sequence of a data stream to be transmitted from the control unit to the peripheral unit, and the transmission of a second data sequence to be transmitted after the first data sequence is delayed in time on the part of the control unit, so that the second data sequence is transmitted by the control unit to the peripheral unit following the synchronization character.

  • Patent number: 7194370
Abstract: In a device and a method for correcting scanning signals of incremental position transducers, which exhibit deviations from the signal shape required by a downstream evaluation unit, the scanning signals are fed to a correction unit in response to a signal request and, to implement the correction, are linked there to correction data which were generated in consideration of active values of the scanning signals. Following each signal request, for at least one predefined time segment, the correction unit is exclusively fed scanning signals which are used for generating correction data.

  • Patent number: 7131056
Abstract: A method for examining an interface to a plurality of peripheral units of a numeric control system includes, firstly, an initialization step in which an unequivocal identification character is written into an identification character register of each peripheral unit, the register functioning in response to an address bus. The identification character register is read out in an examination step and is compared with an expected value. If an identification character does not tally with the corresponding expected value, an error message is produced, and if all of the identification characters tally with the corresponding expected values, the addressing of all of the peripheral units by the address bus is deemed successful.

  • Patent number: 6829557
Abstract: A method for the incremental position determination of two objects, which are movable in relation to each other. The method including generating at least one pair of position-dependent incremental scanning signals during a position determination between two objects, which have a defined phase offset from each other. Passing the at least one pair of position-dependent incremental scanning signals on to a transformation table in which one or several output signal values with respect to each pair of the at least one pair of position-dependent incremental scanning signals have been stored. • Patent number: 6704685
Abstract: A device for determining a signal running time between a position measuring system and a processing unit. The device includes first and second position signal generators that generate position signals regarding relative chronological position of a first running time measuring signal with respect to first and second data words. A first transmitter that transmits the first running time measuring signal and the first position signal to the position measuring system at the end of transmission of the first data word to the position measuring system. A second transmitter that transmits a second running time measuring signal and the second position signal to the processing unit after the end of transmission of the second data word. A timer that ascertains a length of time between transmission of the first running time measuring signal and reception of the second running time measuring signal by the processing unit and a signal running time generator that determines a signal running time from the length of time.

  • Patent number: 5687103
Abstract: The invention concerns a device and a method for serial data transmission. In the position measuring device there is provided a memory, in which specific parameters of the position measuring device are kept. These parameters can be sent on the data line to a processing unit, by which the measurement values are transmitted during the position measurement. By receiving the parameters, the processing unit is adjusted to the connected position measuring device.
