  • Publication number: 20210300651
Abstract: The present invention relates to multilayer packaging films having an outer super-hydrophobic anti-abuse surface and to bags made therefrom, with the super-hydrophobic surface as the outermost surface. The packages made from the films of the invention do not get wet during post-packaging treatments requiring hot-water or steam such as shrinking, sterilization or pasteurization (FIG. 7A). At the exit of the shrinking apparatus, or of the sterilization or pasteurization apparatus, the packages do not need any final drying and can be directly placed into the cardboard boxes for shipment, with evident advantages of time and energy savings.

  • Publication number: 20200189254
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of dual ovenable biaxially oriented polyester films in vacuum skin packaging applications. Furthermore, the invention relates to preferably dual ovenable skin packages, in particular to preferably dual ovenable vacuum skin food packages for cook-in applications. Due to the very high formability, the VSP packages of the present invention do not show the defects of prior VSP ovenable packages such as self-sealing of the top web or unsealed areas around the packed product.

  • Patent number: 8273447
Abstract: A multilayer oriented film comprising at least one layer (a) comprising one or more polyesters and/or copolyesters characterized by a % of crystallinity higher than 15, an adjacent layer (b) comprising one or more polyolefin-based adhesive resins, and a layer (c) comprising one or more co-polyesters characterized by a % of crystallinity lower than 15, is positioned between said two layers (a) and (b) in such a way that one of the two principal surfaces of layer (c) is directly adhered to layer (a) and the other is directly adhered to layer (b). The presence of a co-polyester layer (c) of relatively low % crystallinity positioned between (co)polyester layer (a) and adhesive layer (b) remarkably increases the bond between the two layers (a) and (b) and prevents delamination problems in the oriented structure.
