Abstract: A banknote store can remove banknotes individually from a stack by light air pressure extending over a substantial area of the banknote, the banknote then being transportable without needing to move the source of the reduced pressure. Banknotes are added individually by using reduced pressure to hold them against a transport belt before they are deposited on the stack.

Abstract: A banknote store comprises a rotatable structure such as a drum which has a number of banknote storage regions arranged around its periphery. Each stores a stack of banknotes, the stacks growing inwardly as banknotes are added. The drum can be rotated to bring each storage region into proximity to means for delivering banknotes to and/or retrieving banknotes from the store.

The handle (2) is attached to the cashbox (14) by means allowing both pivotal and translational movement so as to allow a substantial space between the gripping portion (6) of the handle (2) and the cashbox (14) with the handle (2) in its use position. A support stay (28) is pivoted to both the cashbox (14) and the handle (2). Abstract: A banknote validator comprises a banknote transport path divided in multiple transport sub-systems. Each sub-system is easy to maintain because the axes of a sub-system are in reduced number, and easily removable for maintenance of the sub-system. The validator allows continuous frictional engagement of a banknote in the transport path, including between sub-systems.

Abstract: A banknote reader for initiating a service operation of a vending machine (6) comprises an installation housing of side plates (1) and a money container (11). An interior (14) between the side plates (1) has devices (15; 16; 18; 19; 21; 22; 24) for aligning, transporting, checking and rejecting banknotes (8) and are arranged as modules at predetermined locations along the transport path of the banknotes (8). The installation housing has exchangeable front parts (2; 3; 24) and has on opposite narrow sides (9; 12) a flap 13, which can be pivoted for maintenance work and contains a built-in control device (25), and a connecting opening (10) to the money container (11), respectively. A minimal design of the banknote reader comprises at least a transport system (15), an entry channel (16) for aligning the banknotes (8), a drive unit (22) of the transport system (15), a checking device (18) for recognising genuine banknotes (8), and the control device (25).

Abstract: Apparatus is described for handling sheets, such as bank notes or other value sheets. An inserted note is transported to an intermediate position in which the note can either be rejected or encashed without affecting notes already stored on a temporary storage drum, or the note can be stored on the temporary storage drum from the intermediate position. The intermediate position may be in an output path of the apparatus and the note reversed on to the drum, the intermediate position may be a partially stored position of the note on the drum, from which the note can be discharged without discharging any additional notes already stored on the drum. A selectable transmission coupling is used to rotate the drum from a common drive source in one direction for storing successive notes as a bundle, and in a reverse direction of discharging the bundle.

Abstract: A banknote (9) inserted by a user in an entrance channel (1) of a banknote validator moves along a transport path defined by upper and lower belts (10 and 11) past two sensors (2). Each belt is supported on a respective support member (6, 7). The belts are driven on respective rollers (12, 13) which are rotatable on respective axles (14, 15). Projections (21, 20) or the support members bear on the axles (15, 14) against the action of springs (19, 18) such that the lower belt (11), in the region of the first sensor (2), is located at a predetermined distance from the first sensor and that the upper belt (10), in the region of the second sensor (2), is located at a predetermined spacing from the second sensor (2), thus causing the inserted banknote (9) to pass the sensors (2) at a predetermined spacing therefrom. Reference surfaces are similarly mounted. A support for the axles is described in which one end of the axle is axially movable relative to the support.

Abstract: A device for stacking sheets comprises a drive (1) with a control device (29) and a pusher plate (6) which is arranged on a rod linkage (2), is displaceable perpendicular to a transport plane (8) and which pushes a sheet (5), which has been advanced in the transport plane (8) and aligned over a substantially rectangular entry opening (11) of a cassette (3), through the entry opening (11) into the cassette and onto a stack (4). The rod linkage comprises a control plane (13) and two pairs of arms (15, 16) forming double scissors that can be pivoted about an axle pin (19) by the drive (1). Pivoting of the double scissors moves the pusher plate (6) relative to the cassette (3). The control device (29) is arranged to limit the depth of penetration of the pusher plate (6) into the cassette (3) by reversing the direction of rotation of the drive (1) when the desired depth of penetration has been reached.

Abstract: An automatic banknote machine includes a selector for receiving rectangular sheets, in particular, banknotes, and for conveying them along for further processing. The selector comprises an input channel into which a bill is introduced, a conveying mechanism for conveying the bill along the input channel, the conveying mechanism including a device, e.g., a skewed roller, for pressing an edge of the bill against a lateral reference surface thereby aligning the bill in the input channel, and a mechanism for verifying the position of the bill as being pressed against the lateral reference surface once the bill has been brought completely into the input channel.

Abstract: A simple mechanical counting device is disclosed. The counting device includes a simple zero reset mechanism which enables the counter to be easily reset to zero by the use of a finger of the human hand.
