  • Patent number: 5881880
Abstract: A container lid has a top wall with a series of recessed areas that include therewithin a plurality of geometrical projections and a bottom wall that displays a plurality of recesses complementary in shape to the projections of the top wall whereby identically shaped lids may be stacked or cross-stacked in nested condition with the projections of one lid being received in the corresponding recesses of a superposed lid. The lid is adapted to be affixed to a container having four side pieces and a bottom piece, the configuration of the lid allowing a stacking or cross-stacking arrangement of lid-covered containers with their side pieces in the erected position as well as the stacking or cross-stacking of lid-covered containers with their side pieces in an inwardly folded position.

  • Patent number: 5746342
Abstract: A five-piece container for items, such as bottles, comprises a bottom piece, a pair of side pieces of identical height and a pair of end pieces also of identical height; each side edge and each end edge of the bottom piece display a series of planar surfaces interspaced with a series of recessed areas in which is defined a hinge that engagedly receives a C-shaped extension formed at the lower edge of each side piece and of each end piece so that the side and end pieces may be mounted to the bottom piece through a snap engagement. The end pieces and the side pieces can be moved between an outward foldback position and an erected position; however, an inward folded position cannot be effected due to the configuration of the lower edge of the side pieces and of the end pieces and that of the edges of the bottom piece. The folding configuration is useful for containers that have walls higher than the width of the bottom thus preventing the walls from being folded inside.

  • Patent number: 5699926
Abstract: The invention described consists of a five-piece container for carrying bottles and of a stabilizer tablet for steadying the bottles in their vertical position in the container. The container comprises a bottom piece formed of plastics material and of opposite side pieces and opposite end pieces also formed of plastics material and hingedly connected to the side and end edges of the bottom piece whereby the side pieces and the end pieces may be pivoted between an erected position and an outward foldback position and vice-versa. The stabilizer tablet consists of a flat board displaying a series of openings each having a size to engage the neck portions of the bottles and to thereby minimize up, down, and sideway movements of the bottles in the container.

  • Patent number: 5515987
Abstract: A five-piece plastic container for carrying items, such as fruits and vegetables, comprises a bottom piece and four side pieces; each side edge of the bottom piece includes a series of horizontally spaced recessed areas and a horizontally extending integrally formed hinge traversing the recessed area. Each lower edge of the side pieces includes a series of horizontally spaced extensions defining a C-shaped profile which is adapted to be received within a corresponding one of the recessed areas for the assembly of the side pieces to the bottom piece. The profile is configured to enable a snap engagement and disengagement with and from the hinges, allowing the side pieces to be moved between an outward foldback position, an erected position and an inwardly folded position. The disclosure also describes a seven-piece container.

  • Patent number: 5353948
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a container consisting of a unitary body and of a pair of covering lids, the body and the lids being made of injection molded plastic material. The lids are hingedly connectable to the upper edges of the body through a snap engagement. The lids are thus formed of integral C-shaped projections along their longitudinal outer edge which engage onto integral hinge portions along the upper edge of the body side walls. The lids have their longitudinal inner edge constructed to define a trough allowing water collected on top of the lids to be dispensed trough appropriate openings in the end walls of the container body.
