  • Publication number: 20160186511
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments relate to methods and devices for setting a plug seat within a downhole well, for example in fracing operations. In an embodiment, the expandable plug seat may include an expandable slip ring and one or more wedge rings. To set the expandable plug seat in place within the casing of the wellbore, longitudinal force would typically be applied to the one or more wedge rings, thereby deforming the expandable slip ring and driving it radially outward and into contact with the casing in the wellbore. In some embodiments, the expandable plug seat may be used with a dissolvable ball, which can be pumped to seat onto the plug seat device for sealing of the wellbore. Once the downstream section of the well has been isolated in this manner, hydraulic fracturing operations can commence. Eventually, the ball may dissolve, allowing access to the wellbore without the need to drill the plug.

  • Publication number: 20160130901
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments may relate to methods and devices which may assist in removal of casing from a wellbore, for example during abandonment operations. In an embodiment, the tool device may have a sleeve rotationally disposed on a housing body, such that rotation may operate to switch the tool between two configurations. In the first configuration, the tool may allow fluid flow down the length of the tool string through the longitudinal bore, and then back up to the surface through the annular space outside the housing. In the second configuration, the tool may allow fluid flow from the bore of the tool to the annular space, and then downward in the annular space.

  • Patent number: 7735562
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of sealing a tieback to a tubular. The method includes, positioning a metal deformable member of the tieback within a tubular and contacting the tubular with a sleeve of the tieback. Moving the sleeve in a first axial direction thereby contacting and radially deforming a first portion of the deformable member by axially compressing the deformable member and sealably engaging the tubular with the radially deformed first portion.

  • Patent number: 6431277
Abstract: A liner hanger assembly has a slip actuation system which is locked for run-in. A piston assembly bolts onto the mandrel in a sealable manner to actuate a mechanical lock. Upon release of the lock, a plurality of springs actuate a sleeve which is in turn attached to the slips to move them relative to their slip seats. The slip seats are preferably mounted to the mandrel without welding and have longitudinal spaces for mud or cement flow therebetween. Load is distributed from each slip through its slip seat into the mandrel without interaction from an adjacent slip or slip seat. A rupture disk ensures that a predetermined pressure is built up before the piston can actuate to defeat the lock. The lock can come in a variety of configurations. One of which is a sliding sleeve over a dog and another is a yoke over a split ring which, when shifted, allows the split ring to expand, thus unlocking the parts.

  • Patent number: 5477925
Abstract: The present invention relates to art improved method for multilateral completion and cementing (e.g. sealing) the juncture between primary and lateral wellbores. The completion method of the present invention addresses the issue of cementation and sealing of junctures between vertical and lateral wellbores. It is desirable to have the ability to re-enter each lateral wellbore as well as maintain the option to perform any function that could be done in a single wellbore. For this reason, cemented and sealed lateral wellbores are desirable so that normal isolation, stimulation or any other operation can be achieved. The method allows sealing and reworking of either wellbores with single laterals or multiple laterals and provides safe durable junctions therebetween. The method of this invention utilizes a "hook" liner hanger system.
