  • Publication number: 20200045062
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for presenting alerts of malicious activity are provided. In some embodiments, a method for presenting alerts of malicious activity is provided, the method comprising: detecting malicious activity on a first user device connected to a router; identifying a group of user devices connected to the router; selecting a second user device of the group of user devices with which to present an alert of the malicious activity based on a likelihood that a user of the second user device is within a predetermined range of the second user device; determining a characteristic of the alert based on a capability of the second user device; and causing the alert of the malicious activity to be presented by the second user device in the determined characteristic of the alert.

  • Patent number: 7865956
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for predicting the incidence of a new virus a within a system based upon previous infections recorded within the system. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for responding to a virus alert that provides information pertaining to a new virus includes obtaining the virus alert and assessing a risk level associated with the new virus. The risk level indicates the predicted likelihood that the first virus will cause significant damage in the event that the new virus infects the computer system. Finally, the method includes obtaining computer code such as a driver and/or a dat when the risk level indicates that the new virus may pose a significant risk to the computer system.

  • Patent number: 7674298
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing security to Bluetooth-enabled handheld or portable devices are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a handheld security system includes a control unit and a device. The control unit is Bluetooth-enabled, and has an associated communications range. The device, which is also Bluetooth-enabled, is registered with the control unit such that the device cooperates with the control unit using Bluetooth communications to determine when the device is within the range of communications of the control unit. When it is determined that the device is within the range of communications of the control unit, the device is allowed to remain functional. Alternatively, when it is determined that the device is not within the range of communications of the control unit, the device is rendered to be substantially non-functional.

  • Patent number: 7080000
Abstract: A method for maintaining updated antivirus files within a computer network comprising at least one user computer and at least one central service computer. Each of the user computer and central service computer has an antivirus database and the network is connected to an antivirus server. The method includes receiving a new antivirus file at one of the user computer and the central service computer and updating the computer's antivirus database. The antivirus databases of the central service computer and the user computer are compared to determine if one of the databases contain new antivirus files not contained within the other database. The central service computer and the user computer are each configured to send the new antivirus files to the other of the central service computer and the user computer to update the antivirus database.
