  • Publication number: 20060090892
Abstract: A system and method is provided for sensing a variety of parameters in well-related environments. A skin sensor is deployed in downhole applications to obtain data used in analyzing well characteristics.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 4, 2004
    Publication date: May 4, 2006
    Applicant: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Inventors: Rodney Wetzel, Randolph Sheffield, Rashmi Bhavsar, Philippe Gambier
  • Publication number: 20060086498
Abstract: A system that is usable with a subterranean well includes a winding, a member and a circuit. The winding is located downhole in the well, and the member moves relative to the winding in response to vibration occurring in the well to cause a signal to be generated on the winding. The circuit is coupled to the winding to respond to the signal to provide power to operate a component located downhole in the well.

  • Publication number: 20060027377
Abstract: A well conduit that has an aperture for communicating with a target reservoir and a one-way valve in the aperture may be used in injection and production wells. Other devices, systems, methods, and associated uses are also included in the present invention. For example, the conduit housing the valves may be used as a base pipe for a sand screen. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract, which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 4, 2004
    Publication date: February 9, 2006
    Applicant: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Inventors: Gerhard Schoonderbeek, Laurent Alteirac, Jeremy Walker, Rodney Wetzel
  • Publication number: 20050274528
Abstract: The invention is a valve that prevents blow-outs through a control line while simultaneously allowing bi-directional flow or pressure transfer through the control line. The invention comprises a shuttle valve disposed in the control line.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 10, 2004
    Publication date: December 15, 2005
    Applicant: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
Inventors: Stephane Hiron, Rodney Wetzel, Philippe Gambier
  • Publication number: 20050217850
Abstract: A technique includes deploying a spring downhole, energizing the spring and using the energized spring to form an annular barrier in the well. The spring may be energized prior to being run downhole or after being run downhole, depending on the particular embodiment of the invention.

Inventors: Brian Cho, Rodney Wetzel, Rashmi Bhavsar
  • Publication number: 20050199401
Abstract: The invention is a sealing system, such as a packer, that is used in a wellbore to seal against an exterior surface, such as a casing or open wellbore. The sealing system includes a swellable material that swells from an unexpanded state to an expanded state thereby creating a seal when the swellable material comes into contact with a triggering fluid.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20050155773
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for deploying an expandable tubular, such as a sand screen, through a tubing in a subterranean wellbore. The system comprises a deployment tool attached to a conveyance device and having an unexpanded state and an expanded state and a scrolled tubular attached to the deployment tool. The tubular is scrolled around the deployment tool in the unexpanded state with the scrolled sand screen having an outer diameter that is less than an inner diameter of the tubing. The tubular is then unscrolled to expand against a surface in the expanded position.

  • Publication number: 20050045329
Abstract: An intelligent well system and method has a sand face completion and a monitoring system to monitor application of a well operation. Various equipment and services may be used. In another aspect, the invention provides a monitoring system for determining placement of a well treatment. Yet another aspect of the invention is an instrumented sand screen. Another aspect is a connector for routing control lines. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
