  • Publication number: 20220393209
Abstract: An apparatus for storing hydrogen as protons and electrons separately. The apparatus includes a DC power supply; a hydrogen electrolysis unit including a hydrogen tank adapted to contain hydrogen under pressure and in contact with one or more catalyst electrodes contained in the tank, the one or more catalyst electrodes in electrical connection with the DC power supply; and an electron storage unit for storing electrons, the electron storage unit in electrical connection with the DC power supply and separated from the hydrogen electrolysis unit. In a proton generation mode, the DC power supply is configured to operate the one or more catalyst electrodes in anode mode to catalyze oxidation of hydrogen in the hydrogen tank to form and store protons on or near the one or more electrodes and store generated electrons in the electron storage unit.

  • Publication number: 20220109173
Abstract: A renewable energy storage system which uses hydrogen as a storage medium. The system includes a hydrogen generation module for producing hydrogen through electrolysis of water, with the hydrogen generation module powered by one or more renewable energy sources, and a hydrogen storage module for storing at least part of the hydrogen as compressed hydrogen or as hydrogen protons. The system further includes a hydrogen fuel cell for converting at least part of the hydrogen stored to produce electricity.

  • Publication number: 20210151781
Abstract: An apparatus for storing hydrogen as protons and electrons separately. The apparatus includes a DC power supply; a proton generation and hydrogen recovery unit including a hydrogen tank adapted to contain hydrogen gas under pressure and in contact with one or more electrodes contained in the tank, with the one or more electrodes in electrical connection with the DC power supply; and an electron storage unit for storing electrons, with the electron storage unit in electrical connection with the DC power supply and separated from the proton generation and hydrogen recovery unit. In a proton generation mode the DC power supply is configured to catalyze oxidation of pressurized hydrogen in the hydrogen tank at the one or more electrodes to form and store protons on or near the one or more electrodes in the hydrogen tank and store generated electrons in the electron storage unit.

  • Publication number: 20180034081
Abstract: A process and apparatus where unipolar electrolysis is used to remove the electron from the hydrogen gas and the proton is stored in a very small volume in a high surface area electrode or in a conducting aqueous or non-aqueous conductive liquid containing fine particles of hydrogen receptors and unipolar electrolysis is used to add electrons to the hydrogen proton to produce the hydrogen gas when it is required as a fuel. The process and apparatus have applications in electric power generation from renewable energy and the use of hydrogen in land, water and air vessels.

  • Publication number: 20050126924
Abstract: Large quantities of low cost hydrogen free of carbon oxides are required as fuel for the hydrogen economy. Commercial quantities of hydrogen can be produced from the electrolysis of water using a diaphragm-less electrolytic cell. The electrolytic cell has an anode cell (31) and a cathode cell (32) connected by a DC power source (53) and an external conductor (52). An alternate apparatus method to produce hydrogen is to electrolyze water using unipolar activation. Unipolar activation uses separate anode and cathode circuits and can use secondary cathode (132) and anode (139) cells to recover energy and produce further hydrogen.

  • Publication number: 20050098443
Abstract: This invention concerns the commercial production of electrolytic hydrogen from coal and other hydrocarbon compounds. The process provides high capacity and low impedance compared to conventional diaphragm electrolytic cells. The hydrogen produced is suitable for combined cycle gas turbines and fuel cell power generation plants and for proton electrolytic membrane fuel cell powered transport vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20050025687
Abstract: A process of producing 99% plus titanium dioxide product by using conventional and microwave heating and leaching of the titanium compound feedstock using acid and oxidants. The solid residue from the leaching is used to produce the high quality titanium oxide by froth flotation. Hydrochloric acid can be recovered by multi-stage evaporation. The process can be modified to produce nano-size titanium dioxide product.

  • Publication number: 20020058174
Abstract: Compound electrodes are used instead of an anode and solution electrode and cathode and solution electrode in an electrochemical system that does not rely on a diaphragm or membrane directly between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode. The compound electrode consists of a solution electrode inside the anode or cathode electrode with a liquid or gel or electrolytic membrane located between the solution electrode and the anode or cathode electrode. The compound electrode may be used in a electrolytic cell, a fuel cell or a unipolar activation cell.
