  • Publication number: 20090234515
Abstract: The organization system is designed for influencing a system, in particular a vehicle system, during ongoing operation of the system. The organization system has an adaptation manager and adaptive software components, each having an interface. The adaptation manager sets, adapts and/or controls the adaptive software components through the interfaces. The adaptation manager may have a system interface through which presettings of the systems are modifiable.

  • Patent number: 7502794
Abstract: A method for controlling access to a resource of an application in a data-processing device, comprising the steps: registering an access interface of an access-management component at the data-processing device; request by a first application for an access to the access interface of the access-management component at the data-processing device; registering of a resource of the first application at the access-management component actuation of a second application by a user which requests access to the resource of the first application; sending an access-authorization query of the first application about the user to the access-management component; and, given authorization of the user, granting access to the resource of the first application by the second application.

  • Publication number: 20060250226
Abstract: A method for operating multimedia and/or telematics services and associated user interfaces in a motor vehicle, featuring speed-dependent control of the selection of the services and of the representation of the services at the user interfaces. A speedometer-coupled service management unit controls automatic adaptation of the representation and use of the services in a manner adapted to the instantaneous speed of the motor vehicle. This reduces stress on the driver, the risk of accident, and increases convenience.

  • Patent number: 6937139
Abstract: A method and a device, respectively, for controlling a barricade of a parking space for a vehicle are proposed, the method being used to change a code as needed with which authorization for controlling the barricade of the parking space is attained and to recognize a plurality of codes as authorized for one barricade. A code is able to be changed using a password. The radio signals are preferably transmitted via Bluetooth. A dwell time of the vehicle in the parking space may also be logged. A code may be designed as a personal identification number or as an identification number of the vehicle or of the radio module. The barricade is designed as either a garage door or a barrier.

  • Patent number: 6920327
Abstract: A method for the transmission of data using radio transmission systems between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, and a computer for the allocation of radio transmission systems for the transmission of data between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, which serve to select radio transmission systems dynamically, for a communication from at least one transmitter/receiver station, on the basis of a subscriber profile, a location of the one transmitter/receiver station, and/or a speed of the transmitter/receiver station, in order to transmit data between transmitter/receiver stations. A computer in a switching device calculates which radio transmission system best meets the criteria. During a data transmission, it is possible to switch automatically to a further radio transmission system if the transmission quality of the radio transmission system currently being used declines.

  • Publication number: 20020109676
Abstract: A device for receiving data via radio signals in a motor vehicle, where a single operation of an input means putting the device in a state, stored in the memory, for playback of the data. As a result, when confronted with an apparently hopeless situation, a user in a motor vehicle, in the simplest of operations and without being distracted from driving activities, is able to return the device to a state where it may be optimally utilized. Various input devices are possible here, such as a pushbutton, a remote control or a microphone. The state may be characterized by various selection options, including resumption of data reception from a service, resumption of a service used previously, returning to a portal of a service provider or restarting the device, in which case the restart may be performed either through hardware or software. A pushbutton may cause various states of the device, depending on the length of time of operation of the pushbutton.

  • Publication number: 20020107664
Abstract: Proposed is a service element (2, 15, 16) in a distributed system, the service element being used to configure, equip, and maintain components of the distributed system, and, if necessary, to perform an emergency function. The service element (2, 15, 16) detects new components, and integrates them into the system, or gives information regarding the configuration. In the case of an error in the software running on components that are detected by the service element (2, 15, 16), a software correction is carried out, if necessary. Using communication means (4, 22, 24), the service element (2, 15, 16) loads new software for the components. In the case of serious functional errors, the service element (2, 15, 16) contacts a service provider, using communication means.

  • Patent number: 6055663
Abstract: The process for data transmission between two stations by means of data blocks each having a synchronization pattern field (SYNC), a header field (HEADER) and an information field (INFORMATION) following the header field includes providing a header control field (HEX) following the header field (HEADER) in each of the data blocks for reconstruction of the header field when a transmission of the header field contains errors.

  • Patent number: 5926232
Abstract: In a method for optimizing the transmission of signals, especially video signals, over a channel with a predetermined channel data rate after source encoding for data reduction and channel encoding, in which redundancy is added to the source-encoded signals for error control protection, at least one quality parameter of the transmitted and decoded signals is measured. As a function of the measured quality parameter, the relationship between the source accuracy of the source encoding and the added redundancy is changed in opposite directions to optimize the transmission.

  • Patent number: 5771102
Abstract: The process for transmission of images enables various classes of source-coded image data to be channel-coded and transmitted at various class code rates. For this purpose, source-coded image data to be transmitted are divided into classes of different sensitivity with respect to transmission errors and the classes are provided with different error protection and are channel-coded for transmission. Information words are provided at the beginning of each class containing information regarding the class type, code rate, number of data bits belonging to a particular class and regarding the error protection employed. In addition, a synchronizing word is added to the image data for each image. In the receiver the first information words are channel-decoded according to a fixed code rate and the information stored in the first information words including code rate is used for the channel-decoding of the received coded image data. The image data are subsequently subjected to an image source decoding and read out.

  • Patent number: 5737345
Abstract: A method for arithmetic decoding improves the reliability of the arithmetic coding. For the purpose of channel decoding, use is made of a soft output Viterbi algorithm which, along-side the decided data item, supplies an item of reliability information. In addition, a data item is predicted for the decided data item in accordance with channel-decoded and arithmetically decoded data already transmitted, and subsequently arithmetically coded and compared with the channel-decoded data item. If the two data items do not correspond, the distribution density function used for the arithmetic decoding is changed by using the reliability information, and the channel-decoded data item is subsequently arithmetically decoded using the new distribution density function.
