  • Patent number: 6533523
Abstract: A wheelchair system for transferring a handicapped person onto an automobile seat includes a wheeled chassis whose front end is rolled beneath an automobile door opening, a horizontally extending base member, and a rotatable mounting mechanism for the base member. The rotatable mounting mechanism includes a first actuating linkage and a first driven member therefor. The wheelchair system also includes a chair supporting frame located centrally of the chassis and removably mounted on the base member. This chair supporting frame includes an adjusting mechanism for vertically adjusting a support thereof. A handle assembly is removably mounted to the chassis and includes a second linkage for rotating the first driven member. This second linkage includes a removable driving member which removably connects to the first driven member as the handle is removed and connected to the chassis, and a second driven member at an opposite end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4669943
Abstract: A wheel chair is provided which is adapted to permit the chair to be separated from the wheeled chassis so that the chair may be positioned on a seat of an automobile. The wheeled chassis provides support for the chair on the side of the chair so that the chair may be brought into the automobile through the open door with the wheeled chassis moving beneath the automobile. The support for the chair is rotatably on the wheeled chassis so that the chair can be rotated into alignment with the seat in the automobile. The support for the chair is also vertically adjustable so that the chair may be lowered to rest on the automobile seat. The wheeled chassis and support for the chair may then be disassembled and stored in the automobile.

  • Patent number: 4117561
Abstract: A movable patient lift device that comprises a lower base assembly, an upstanding post assembly mounted on one end of the base assembly, a cantilever boom assembly, which includes a track, mounted on the upper end of the post assembly and extending longitudinally at the distal end beyond the base assembly, and a movable trolley assembly in movable engagement with and supported by the track. The trolley assembly contains a rotatable drum onto which a flexible cable is wound. A patient chair or sling is attached to the other end of the cable and linkage and gearing is provided to enable an operator to rotate the drum thereby raising or lowering the patient, and to longitudinally position the trolley assembly and hence the patient along the track. A cantilever platform is pivotally mounted to the base assembly and extends outwardly therefrom, preferably in the direction opposite that of the boom assembly.
