  • Patent number: 5124883
Abstract: A power plug (10) for a printed circuit board (12) has a main contact body (30). The body (30) has a generally cylindrical portion (32), which is threaded at (34) on its outside surface along its length. An integral spring contact portion (36) projects from the cylindrical portion (32). The spring contact portion (36) has enlarged tips (46) and a pair of opposed slots (48). The portion (36) extends through a board contact and heat sink (50) and has a contact ridge (52), which engages the plated through main contact hole (24). The plug (10) is installed by first inserting legs (54) of the board contact/heat sink (50) into mounting holes (26). Spring contact portion (36) of the contact body (30) is then inserted through the board contact/heat sink (50) into the main contact hole (24) of the printed circuit board (12), with the enlarged tips (46) extending along the greater diameter of the oval.

  • Patent number: 5055055
Abstract: An electrical connector (15) for a power distribution system including an electrically conductive body (17) with a socket (22) for receiving an electrically conductive contact pin (18), contact terminals (20) for connecting connector (15) to a printed circuit board, and an insulating housing (14) mounted on and substantially surrounding the body (17). The conductive body (17), in combination with the housing (14), may serve as a female-type connector to slidably receive a contact pin or a male-type connector to securely retain a contact pin. Contact pin (18) may be floatingly mounted in socket (22) to accommodate misalignments between printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 4836791
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multi-pin coax connector assembly having connector housings made of metal or conductive plastic which serves as a reference ground for all signals. The connectors have passages extending therethrough. Pin and socket terminals are insert molded with insulating material and are positioned in the passages. The insulating material spaces the terminals from the conductive connector housing as well as providing air gaps along most of the length of the terminals. The air gaps cooperate with the insulating material to provide controlled impedance. As the signals travel at a high rate of speed along the terminals, the terminals are bent to minimize the reflection of the signal. The connectors are provided with power and ground busses along the outside surfaces thereof, the busses of the first connector making electrical connection with the respective busses of the second connector.

  • Patent number: 4767984
Abstract: A protective fixture for a flat chip carrier comprises a flat fixture body having a recess in one surface thereof which receives the body of the chip carrier so that the leads extending from the edges of the chip carrier project towards the edges of the fixture body. Tool clearance openings are provided which extend through the fixture body and are located between the chip carrier and the edges of the fixture body so that the leads extend into and partially across the clearance openings. The tool clearance openings permit the performance of various operations on the leads and on the integrated circuit such as trimming and forming of the leads and testing of the circuit in the chip carrier. The leads are fully protected and it is not necessary to remove the chip carrier from the fixture until it is assembled to a circuit board or the like.

  • Patent number: 4725918
Abstract: A protective insert for use with a protective fixture for a chip carrier has walls and an arm. The insert is positioned in openings of the fixture by way of an interference fit. The arm contacts leads of a chip carrier positioned in the fixture, protecting the integrated circuit from electrostatic discharge. A hinge means provided between the walls and the arm allows the insert to protect the chip carrier during transportation while still permitting easy testing of the chip carrier. As the chip carrier is needed, the insert is removed and reused in transportation of another chip carrier.
