  • Publication number: 20110066104
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for needleless transdermal drug delivery. The device according to the invention comprises an actuator (104) and a support (102) which has a support stiffness. The actuator (104) has a driver part (108) and a support part (106), which support part (106) is connected to the support and which driver part (108) is displaceable with regard to the support part (106) along an axis of displacement (110). The device according to the invention is characterized in that the support stiffness provides a substantially zero displacement of the actuator's support part (106) along the driver's axis of displacement (110) during a displacement of the driver part (108) along said axis with regard to the support part (106).

  • Publication number: 20100106076
Abstract: It is described a drug delivery system (100) that is adapted to infuse a drug in a profile related to the activity status of a patient (595). The system comprises acceleration sensors (112), dedicated electronics (120) and software to monitor the patient's activity and maintain control over the drug-release profile. The described system (100) enables a personalized treatment of patients (595) by monitoring their individual activity status and coupling this information to a drug delivery following appropriate delivery profiles. The system (100) may be provided with a memory in order to store a time dependence of activity data. This time dependence may be used by physicians to monitor, support and adapt their therapy for the patients. The system (100) maybe realized as a closed-loop system for monitoring and treatment of various diseases such as Parkinson s disease. Accelerations sensors (112) may be used in order to directly monitor a positional state and/or motions of the patient's body.

  • Publication number: 20100076367
Abstract: The invention relates to an iontophoretic device for the enhanced transport of substances through the skin (1), wherein at least two electrical transportation fields (Ep, Eo) with different directions are applied. In a preferred embodiment, these field are orthogonal and parallel to the skin surface, respectively, and applied in a temporally alternating sequence. Substances are thus transported in an optimal way on their meandering paths through the stratum corneum into or out of the skin. The iontophoretic device preferably comprises an array of electrodes (11) to which either a spatially alternating pattern of electrical potentials can be applied or which can alternatively be divided into two groups of neighboring electrodes that are connected to the same potential. The iontophoretic device may particularly be integrated into any skin-contacting device e.g. an electrical shaver.
