  • Patent number: 7686573
Abstract: An apparatus for elevating a fluid includes: a pumping member rotatable about a vertical axis, the pumping member having at least one ramped path, the ramped path having a lowermost portion insertable below the surface of a fluid to be elevated, and an uppermost portion that is more distant from the vertical axis than the lowermost portion thereof; a catch chamber surrounding a circular trajectory of the uppermost portion as it rotates about the vertical axis and positioned to receive fluid expelled from the uppermost portion; and a motor coupled to the pumping member for imparting rotational motion to the pumping member about the vertical axis, the motor having sufficient power to generate a centrifugal force that will drive the fluid from the lowermost portion of the ramped path to the uppermost portion and into the catch chamber.

  • Patent number: 6739265
Abstract: A segmented explosive device capable of producing a shock wave front upon being exploded by a detonation impulse generated by a selectively operable control device and communicated to the explosive device by a transmission line coupled between the control device and the explosive device. The explosive device has a first charge segment and a second charge segment disposed in an assembled relationship. The first charge segment has a first abutment surface formed on a portion of the exterior thereof and a cavity recessed in the first abutment surface. An output end of the transmission line is received by the cavity and contacts the first charge segment. The cavity of the first charge segment can be configured to dispose explosive material in the path of a plasma zone propagating through voids internal of the explosive device to facilitate advance detonation of the explosive material before a shock wave front trailing the plasma zone reaches the explosive material.

  • Patent number: 5959237
Abstract: An improved cast explosive charge and a method of manufacturing said cast explosive charges utilizing an automated assembly system. The explosive charges are produced by combining two elongate cast segments, thereby abutting an exterior surface of one segment, formed by explosive material into an exterior surface of a second segment formed by explosive material, and attaching the cast segments together with wrapping material. The cast explosive charge produced by this method of manufacturing exhibits a markedly improved detonation velocity.

  • Patent number: 5314220
Abstract: A tool for lifting hot or unaccessible lids or covers with handles is described. The apparatus consists of a handle with a hook that pivots and a stabilizing member. The hook attached to the pivot also can have a stabilizing member attached thereto. The hook and stabilizing member provide a snug contact with the lid when lifting the lid vertically without deviation from the horizontal plane. A hook proximal or attached to the stabilizing member can engage the handle of the lid while the stabilizing member attached to the pivotal member snugly contacts the lid providing a method of lifting the lid so that it deviates from the horizontal plane without loosing stability.

  • Patent number: 5072211
Abstract: An alarm system to be used with safes is disclosed. A housing is provided adapted to be mounted to the exterior of a safe, particularly a personal home or business safe. A heat sensor is mounted to a shaft that extends from the housing into the safe. The shaft is designed to pass through a preexisting hole found on many commercial available safes. The heat sensor is electronically linked with a control system adapted to sound an alarm when more than a preselected temperature is sensed at the heat sensor. A motion sensor is also mounted in the housing to sense when more than a preselected amount of motion is sensed in the safe.
