  • Pump having integral switch and bypass valve

    Abstract: To provide a filter bypass and indicator, in a pump having an inlet and an outlet with a filter therein, a bypass port is in communication with the outlet upstream of the filter. A bypass valve assembly is provided in the bypass port and is normally in a closed position to direct all flow from the pump inlet through the filter. The bypass valve assembly opens in response to a preselected pressure differential across the filter to divert at least a portion of flow from the inlet around the filter. In addition, the bypass valve assembly includes a switch actuator and the pump includes a switch positioned in proximity to the bypass valve assembly so as to be operable in response to movement of the switch actuator.
