  • Publication number: 20110054801
Abstract: The invention is a detector (15) which comprises: a probe (17) insertable into a drink; processing means (13) coupled to the probe; and an indicator coupled to the processing means; wherein the processing means is configured to receive a signal from the probe and compare said received signal with a stored reference to determine whether a liquid into which said probe is inserted includes a chemical impurity, the processor being configured to operate said indicator in the event that said liquid is determined to include a said chemical impurity. The invention is also a method of detecting a chemical impurity in a liquid of a drink, the method comprising: inserting a probe (17) into the liquid; connecting the probe to a source of electric potential; measuring a response of said liquid; comparing said response to a reference; determining whether a liquid into which said probe is inserted includes a chemical impurity; and indicating that said liquid includes a said chemical impurity.

  • Patent number: 7833362
Abstract: A method by which high temperature properties of a ductile iron alloy, including creep and LCF properties, can be increased for pressure-containing components that are subject to creep and low cycle fatigue. The method comprises modifying the ductile iron alloy to contain 0.4 to 0.8 weight percent molybdenum. A casting of the modified ductile iron alloy is produced and then annealed at a temperature of at least 725° C. for not less than five hours to eliminate carbides and/or stabilize pearlite in the casting. The annealed casting of the modified ductile iron alloy exhibits improved creep resistance and low cycle fatigue properties in comparison to an identical casting of a ductile iron alloy that does not contain molybdenum.

  • Patent number: 7540156
Abstract: A combustion liner for a gas turbine combustion system is provided. The combustion liner comprises a combustion zone between an inlet end and an exhaust end. The combustion liner comprises a one-piece casting construction. The combustion liner is formed from a nickel-based superalloy having strength characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20080027937
Abstract: A system and method provide functionality for collecting user update reports of geographic inconsistencies between geographic data and the real world to enable automated processing of updates to the geographic data. A user's input is collected and describes an anomaly, which is a geographic inconsistency between geographic data and the real world. The user's input is stored as language neutral structured data that enables automated processing of updates to the geographic data. Automatic processes that process the structured data include an email agent, an incident agent, a geographic augmentation agent, a case generation agent, a clustering agent, an automatic validation agent, and a monitoring service. Automatic and manual processes combined together handle processing of anomalies, as well as other related processing, and ultimately handle processing of updates to the geographic data to resolve the anomalies reported by the users.

  • Publication number: 20070217553
Abstract: An optimum signal is assembled from a set of data streams originating from a transmitter. Corresponding bits of the data streams are compared, and for each set of corresponding bits, an output bit is selected based on a majority vote of the data streams. If a majority vote does not yield a result, an output bit can be selected from a default stream, or from a stream which yielded a preceding output bit. Data streams having a signal quality below a predetermined limit are disregarded for purposes of conducting the majority vote. The output stream therefore includes bits taken from different data streams and different times, and has a quality greater than is achievable by any one of the original data streams.
