  • Publication number: 20140299646
Abstract: A hand-held power tool powered by a gas combustion mechanism comprising a combustion chamber, a second chamber within a cylinder having aft and fore ends. The combustion chamber in fluid communication with the second chamber, and a first supercharger including a driver assembly, a drive motor and a fan assembly, the driver assembly having a piston and driver movable within the cylinder between said aft and fore ends. In use, whilst the piston is at or near the fore end of the cylinder, the fan assembly introduces air into the combustion chamber and the second chamber thereby pressuring the air there within, and fuel gas is introduced into the combustion chamber from a first supply port, the air and fuel gas becoming an air/fuel gas mixture therein. The drive motor moves the piston to a position at or near the aft end thereby compressing the air/fuel gas mixture within the first combustion chamber so that it is ignites within the combustion chamber to impart motion onto the piston.

  • Patent number: 8550321
Abstract: A hand-held power tool powered by a gas combustion mechanism comprising a first combustion chamber, a second chamber within a driving cylinder having aft and fore ends. The first combustion chamber in fluid communication with the second chamber via the aft end, a fan assembly, a driver assembly having a piston and driver movable therewithin between the aft and fore end, and a drive motor operably connected to the driver assembly. In use, whilst the piston is at or near the fore end of the driving cylinder, the fan assembly introduces air into the chambers thereby at least partially pressuring the air there within, fuel gas is introduced into the combustion chamber to form an air/fuel gas mixture therein, the drive motor operably moves the piston to a position at or near the aft end thereby compressing the air/fuel gas mixture within the combustion chamber so that the air/fuel mixture is ignited to impart motion onto the and to facilitate the operation of the tool.

  • Patent number: 7594599
Abstract: A hand-held power tool is provided, the operational power of which is provided by a gas combustion mechanism. The gas combustion mechanism comprises a first priming cylinder (2) having a first piston (4) and an air intake valve (6). The priming cylinder (2) is fluidally connected via a transfer valve (8) to a combustion chamber (10) connected to a second delivery cylinder (12) having a second piston (14). In use, the first piston (4) is arranged to compress air and transfer compressed air to the combustion chamber (10) via the transfer valve (8). The combustion chamber (10) is arranged to receive the compressed air from the priming cylinder (2) and fuel gas from the fuel supply port (16). The air and fuel gas are mixed to form an air/fuel gas mixture therein. The combustion chamber (10) is also arranged so that the air/fuel mixture is ignited therein to impart motion onto the second piston (14) and to facilitate the operation of the tool.

  • Publication number: 20080217372
Abstract: A fastener driving tool comprising a tool nose through which a fastener is fired and a loading apparatus for introducing the fastener into the tool nose. The fastener is propelled by a gas combustion mechanism comprising a first priming cylinder having a first piston and an air intake fluidically connected via a first valve apparatus to a second delivery cylinder having a second piston. The first priming cylinder is fluidically connected to a fuel gas reservoir via a second valve apparatus. The first priming cylinder receives fuel from the reservoir and air through the air intake to form an air/fuel gas mixture therein. The first piston compresses the air/fuel gas mixture and transfers the air/fuel gas mixture to the second delivery cylinder via the first valve apparatus. The air/fuel mixture is ignited therein and urges the second piston towards the fastener and propels the fastener away from the tool nose.

  • Patent number: 7337774
Abstract: Rifle (1) comprises barrel (2) and loading means (15) for introducing a projectile from magazine (7) into breech (4). The projectile is propelled by a compressed gas propellant initially stored as a liquid in canister (10). The liquid is heated to a super critical state in chamber (8) by heating element (12) to induce a phase change such that the liquid becomes a highly dense gas. The phase change from liquid to gas provides the energy required to expel the projectile at high velocity from rifle (1), regardless of the ambient temperature. The propellant is preferably CO2 which is heated to 31.06° C. Rifle (1) produces minimal noise and no heat signature, making it suitable for military and stealth purposes. A pistol and launchers for grenades or mortar bombs are also disclosed. Another version can launch low earth orbit satellites or payloads.
