  • Patent number: 10024052
Abstract: A method for building a mechanical secured block structure, including placing a footer block on a desired surface, inserting two respective starter bar nuts into the footer block, inverting the footer block, placing a first concrete masonry unit over respective first and second anchor bars, aligning the first concrete masonry unit with the footer block, placing second and third footer blocks adjacent the first footer block, placing a second concrete masonry unit adjacent the first concrete masonry unit, positioning each respective concrete masonry unit to equally straddle two adjacent footer blocks, positioning respective anchor bars atop respective concrete masonry units, and bolting respective concrete masonry units to respective footer blocks to interconnect the two respective concrete masonry units and the three respective footer blocks to define a contiguous wall. Each respective masonry unit and each respective footer block are post tensioned to be under compression.

  • Patent number: 9328501
Abstract: An improved mechanically secured block building system generally for concrete masonry structures comprising a masonry block unit with a height and width essentially one-half the length of the unit, with multiple cavities through the block and with a recessed channel; an anchor bar with a plurality of threaded and non-threaded apertures in a special configuration to match the cavities in the block unit and able to lay in the recessed channel of the block; and a fastener wherein the mechanical secured block building system can be assembled in unique ways due to a cube effect of the masonry block to construct multiple width walls, grade beams, and horizontal decks. An alternative embodiment includes the preferred mechanical secured block building system further comprised of (d) a footer block and (e) a footer plate.

  • Patent number: 9206597
Abstract: An improved mortar less masonry structure comprising a plurality of concrete masonry units connected to each other by metal bars and metal threaded fasteners thereby forming a reinforcing skeletal system for a post tensioned structure. The improved system has been developed for use in constructing various types of masonry structures. The improvements of the system feature masonry units with recessed channels, pocket channels, or fully embedded bars as anchors. The bolt acts as the tendon for the post tensioning system which traverse the hollow cavities as ducts. Other new features teach a strong and durable full plate anchor and high strength tendons for defensive and anti-terrorism structures. This is an improved building system that demountably couples each individual masonry unit by a bar and bolt system. This coupling results in stronger, faster, and cheaper construction of masonry structures.

  • Patent number: 8850763
Abstract: An improved, high strength construction system that uses post tensioning. It is comprised of a series of interconnected, super heavy duty hollow core blocks 102 with minimal ducts 103, a series of tendons 105, and a plurality of anchors or plates 104 with additional features. The system 101 is configured with the plurality of adjacent blocks 102 contiguous and touching one another and demountably coupled to each other by means of the tendons 105 and anchors 103. The unique features include a strong, durable full plate 104 and bolt 105 both of which may be treated for corrosion resistance. This new coupling results in a structure that is far stronger than an ordinary block structure built with mortar and standard reinforcing. The SYSTEM has more predictable and controlled strength which is stronger than most reinforced concrete systems.

  • Patent number: 8099918
Abstract: An uniquely improved mortar less masonry structure comprising a plurality of concrete masonry units connected to each other by metal bars and metal threaded fasteners thereby forming a reinforcing skeletal system for the masonry to utilize a post tensioned structure. The unique system has been developed with full recessed channels in the masonry unit, anchor bars that fit into the channels and extend across a plurality of masonry units and bolts that act as the tendon for the post tensioning system. This is an improved, rapidly constructed building system that demountably couples each individual masonry unit by an extended bar and bolt system. This extended bar is more efficient and easier to build with as compared to other traditional masonry structures.

  • Patent number: 7934345
Abstract: A mortarless masonry structure comprising a plurality of regular masonry blocks and/or bricks connected to each other by a plurality of metal bars and a plurality of standard metal threaded fasteners thereby forming a post tensioned structure. Preferably, the blocks are operatively connected to each other as a structure by simple mechanical tools. Each interconnection results in a unitized post tensioned member that, when interconnected to the adjacent members, forms a comparatively higher strength structure than systems made of mortar and reinforced mortar. The method used to create this structure is a simple, waterless, mortarless interconnection process that is completed by a series of simple individual steps of fastening the blocks and bars into a strong and durable structure. Once connected the structure is strong and durable. If desired, the structure may be disassembled and the components re-used.

  • Publication number: 20080307748
Abstract: A special leveling device for use in constructing various types of masonry structures. The devices permit the leveling of an aggregate base for a foundation quickly and accurately. The new leveling device sled is comprised of a flat base float featuring an angular or flat front lead section; a handle; and a signal receiver unit. The receiver unit is comprised of an electronic level receiver and an analog level indicator. The sled device is used in coordination with a laser signal generator that sends a continuous laser beam out from a given position at a predetermined, set height.
