  • Patent number: 11732003
Abstract: Methods of maintaining narrow residence time distributions in continuous flow systems, particularly applicable to virus inactivation such as during a protein purification process. Fluid sample is introduced into an axial flow channel and caused to flow therein in discrete packets or zones to minimize residence time distribution and axial dispersion. Embodiments described herein obviate or minimize the need for using large tanks or reservoirs for performing virus inactivation during a protein purification process; reduce the overall time required for virus inactivation, and/or reduce the overall physical space required to perform the virus inactivation operation during a protein purification process, which in turn reduces the overall footprint for the purification process.

  • Publication number: 20210268183
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of controlling the flow of a fluid in a tube (11) of an infusion pump (1), in particular for chronomodulated administration of anticancer drugs. The inventors found that the actual drug flow exiting such a pump has unexpected time delays and/or drug delivery spikes. The proposed method comprises an estimation of the temporal evolution of the concentration of drug or other substances at an exit end (E11) of said tube (11) as a function of a size of said tube (11). Typically, the size of the tube (11) may be its length (L11) and said concentration may be estimated according to a transport equation.

  • Patent number: 7835776
Abstract: A wireless terminal comprises a ground conductor (1102) and a transceiver coupled to an antenna feed, the antenna feed being coupled directly to the ground conductor (1102). In one embodiment the ground conductor is a conducting case (1102). The coupling may be via a parallel plate capacitor (504) formed by a plate (506) and a surface (1108) of the case (1102). The case (1102) acts as an efficient, wideband radiator, eliminating the need for a separate antenna. In a modification of this embodiment a slot (1112) is provided to increase the resistance of the case (1102) as seen by the transceiver, thereby increasing the radiating bandwidth of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 7125175
Abstract: A laser transmitter unit is described, the unit including a laser diode 2 emitting laser radiation into a lens system. The lens system includes collimating lenses L1, L3 and focussing lenses L2, L4. Additionally, compensating or steering lens S1, S2 are positioned between the collimating lenses L1, L3 and the focussing lenses L2, L4. The steering lenses S1, S2 act to reduce the sensitivity of the focussing lenses L2, L4 to position within the lens system. • Publication number: 20050283210
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods which provide management of historical information associated with a medical device, such as an implantable neurostimulation pulse generator, drug pump, cardiac device, hearing enhancement device, or vision enhancement device. Such management of historical information includes storage of historical information within an associated medical device. Historical information stored within a medical device may provide a complete summary of the use, configuration, and operation of the medical device, e.g., information spanning the entire in-service life of the medical device. Historical information for which management is provided may include both static data and dynamic data. The historical information may be used in configuring the medical device, analyzing the operation of the medical device, autonomously altering operation of the medical device, etcetera.
