Patent number: 7310024Abstract: A double oven crystal oscillator (DOCXO) is disclosed which is highly stable by incorporating means to reduce the effects of ambient pressure changes on the frequency of the oscillator. The oscillator crystal is mounted in a temperature controlled inner oven to reduce the effects on the frequency stability of the oscillator. The oscillator circuitry and all circuitry associated with the inner oven is mounted in good thermal contact with the inner oven. A Faraday shield at ground potential is placed over the oscillator circuitry to minimize the effects of stray capacitance between the oscillator components and the case wall of the inner oven. The effects of minor deformations in the case walls within the oscillator caused by ambient pressure changes and other factors causing pressure changes are thereby greatly minimized.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2006Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Inventors: Bryan T. Milliren, Roger L. Clark

Patent number: 6825734Abstract: A transmission line configured as a looped-stub resonator is disclosed, which can be used as a frequency selective element for an oscillator, such as a VCO of a phase locked loop. The transmission line is a fraction of an electrical wavelength, and can be embedded to provide an inner resonant layer of an overall layered structure. The transmission line is formed into a loop or multiple loops and may be terminated with a capacitor, short circuit, or open circuit. In the embedded case, dielectric insulating material can be used to surround the transmission line on top and bottom surfaces as layers. In addition, electrically conducting material layers can be used to surround the dielectric insulating material.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2003Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: Phasor Technologies CorporationInventor: Roger L. Patent number: 6731180Abstract: The present invention is for a thermally controlled package for oscillators, particularly evacuated miniature surface acoustical wave oscillators (EMSO) devices. In a preferred embodiment the surface acoustical wave device is bonded directly to a heated substrate. The package is evacuated to improve temperature characteristics. A temperature heater, sensor, and control controller are utilized to maintain the internal package temperature above ambient. In one embodiment there is an additional substrate layer that house components that are not sensitive to temperature with interconnects electrically connecting the heated substrate and the additional substrates.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2001Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Deleware Capital Formation Inc.Inventors: Roger L. Patent number: 5472463Abstract: A pressure side integrated air filter assembly for a turbocharged engine includes an air filter carrier which is designed and arranged to receive an air filter element and which is adapted to mount to the intake manifold of the turbocharged engine. The air filter carrier which receives an air filtering element is disposed within the intake manifold and the intake manifold cover serves as the air filter cover. A peripheral flange on the air filter carrier is used to support the air filter assembly by being clamped between the intake manifold cover and the intake manifold. This peripheral flange substitutes for the intake manifold gasket. The air filter carrier and the air filter element each have a trapezoidal shape in cross section as a way to conserve space within the intake manifold.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1994Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Cummins Engine Company, Inc.Inventors: Peter K.
