  • Patent number: 7300068
Abstract: An integral keyed lock (10) for a trailer trigger-lock coupler for use as an aftermarket kit or to be incorporated by an original equipment manufacturer. The coupler integral keyed lock (10) utilizes an actuating lever (20) that is configured to interface with and enclose a lock (52). The lock (52) is preferably keyed and includes an outward-extending plunger (54). The lock is disposed within the actuating lever, inside an enlarged portion (26) of one end. The plunger of the lock extends when actuated with a key and prevents rotational travel of the coupler trigger latch, thereby locking the trailer coupler until the plunger is retracted with the key.

  • Patent number: 6318135
Abstract: A tailgate locking assembly (10) designed to be attached to a tailgate latching mechanism (92) that operates a truck tailgate (90). The mechanism (92) includes a pull-handle (96) which controls the position of a pair of lever arms (98) connected to a pair of respective latching rods (100). The rods are normally spring-biased in an outward direction which maintains the tailgate (90) in a latched configuration. When the pull-handle (96) is pulled back, the latching rods (100) move inward which unlatches and allows the tailgate (90) to be lowered. The tailgate locking assembly (10) includes a bracket (12) that attaches to the mechanism (92) and that incorporates a locking arm (56) that can be placed in a first position (44) or a second position (46) by means of a key lock (30). When the arm (56) is in the first position (44) it is located against one of the lever arms (98) preventing the pull-handle (96) from releasing the latching rods (100).

  • Patent number: 5303971
Abstract: A tailgate release handle security device for attachment to a tailgate incorporates a cover comprising a metal plate and an integral inwardly extending skirt having a rim which bears against an outer panel of a tailgate. A pair of hooks, attached to the skirt, extend outward through a pair of apertures in the tailgate release handle recess and bear against the back of the tailgate outer panel. A cylindrical lock, mounted in the plate, has a locking dog which presses outwardly against the upper edge of the back of a tailgate release handle when the security device is attached to the tailgate.

  • Patent number: 5104171
Abstract: A tailgate guard assembly incorporates a metal plate that closes off the handle recess. The plate is stiffened by an inwardly extending skirt welded to the back of the plate so that the skirt projects into the handle recess to hinder direct access into the handle recess under the edge of the plate. A hinge section along the top edge of the plate hooks in behind the outer panel of the tailgate along the top of the handle recess. A lock disposed near the lower end of one of the sides of the handle recess has a locking dog that rotates to a locking position in which it latches behind the outer panel of the tailgate without any structural modifications or additions to the tailgate. Once the tailgate guard assembly is hooked by its hinge section to the tailgate, the assembly is swung downward toward the tailgate until the lock is positioned so that the locking dog can be turned to its locking position.
